Since when do conservatives care or believe in polls? Now that they say something you agree with its gospel.

Five years of being attacked and blamed for everything, frankly I'm surprised they are as high as they are.

His biggest problem was trying to appease republicans. Reid really hurt him with the taking reconciliation out of the equation, by having a republican making the call on what can be passed under reconciliation.

You mean things like the failed federal response to hurricane Katrina being blamed on Obama? How about that time when middle eastern terrorists hijacked planes and crashed them into the world trade center and the Pentagon killing over 3,000 Americans and conservatives blamed clinton? How about that time when the economy collapsed and conservatives blamed clinton?

You mean like that?

When it comes to dealing with republicans you are right. When it comes to foreign policy, that is a figment of conservatives imagination. When the mouthpieces on the right were asked what exactly would you do to Russian about Ukraine, what they said was what Obama is already doing. That's why you see them shutting up over it. As for Syria, whatever he does is criticized. There was a red line drawn but, good for him for not jumping into military action. Do we want to be in yet another war in the middle east and not know who is going to be in charge when it is over? No more cowboying us into wars so chickenhawk conservatives will feel better about themselves.

What failed response? They were there. The dumb arsed LA female governor would not request help fast enough and did not activate the National Guard which she had control over... FEMA was predeployed and ready to go. They can't go in unless invited... Hailey Barbour knew the drill, the response in MS was quick and fast as he declared an emergency early and requested help...

What, exactly, has Obama done (in regards to foreign policy) that makes him so strong?

So that is the story you want to go with? Funny how you are following the party line - the state with a democratic governor didnt do well, but the state with a republican did.

Do you want to stick with that "the response in MS was quick and fast as he declared an emergency early and requested help"?

So the democrat declared an emergency a DAY EARLIER huh? Is there nothing you won't believe?

Funny how you just proved every point I have been trying to make on this board. I came on and and was immediately insulted by vet, who continues to call me silly grade school names. Your first two lines are just ignorant rightwing talking points. You are bragging about how much money you spend on gas.................what a dumbass. You ignorant statements about me proves you know nothing about me.

You have been watching too much fox "news" which purposefully blurs the line between opinion and news. News is based on FACTS, not opinion. I disagree on FACTS. This very thread proves that.

I understand that your party lives on views and agenda, it's all you have. You don't have facts and data to back up anything you say. Show me where what I said isn't the truth. Facts are funny - they are true. And yes, I do treat people who spew ignorant talking points, then when it is pointed out to them what they are spewing is not true they double down and call me retard and other grade school names, like they are inferior.

I'm the one that comes across as a pretentious prick? Any time I disagree with anything that is said on here, I'm mocked as a lib, never looking at what I say. So, when I backup my position with links to prove what I say is the truth, the name calling starts. People on here don't want a "lively and respectful debate", all you and yours want on here is - like I said - a rightwing circle jerk with no one to correct anything you say that is not the truth.

You speak of freedom and the constitution, yet you have a superior view of both. Tell me how I'm stomping on freedoms of others? MY party is not the party of limiting the constitutional rights of the basic foundation of our country - THE RIGHT TO VOTE! That is the freedom you and so many other have served and died for, not to have an xxxl soda or light bulbs or even to have guns. To choose our own leaders, even though not one, but two amendments to the constitution mention the right to vote, your party tramples on it so to sway elections in their favor.

And BTW - I fixed the five spelling errors in your post.

I just looked at your fist paragraph. You should spend more time checking your own posts. FYI, an ellipses only has three periods.

I don't either would claim to be North Korean, nor do I think North Koreans would claim to be either.

I highly recommend "Inside North Korea (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0987374/)" documentary by National Geographic. North Korea is something you just cannot understand without seeing how these people act due to the control and brainwashing of their dear leaders.

It's appalling that this is the information they are feeding to their helpless people, but not nearly as appalling as everything else about that country

It's all good. It seems that China is also tiring of their neighbor boy dictator and ready for the poor country's "government" to fall.

I just wanted to make myself clear on that front, that I didn't endorse North Korea's crimes against humanity and all, as a mostly Republican voter

Now... I believe you were bashing Republicans? Or should I say Conservatives ;)

As long as the Left is dedicated to authoritarianism, socialism, fascism and criminality, they don't deserve any degree of respect. If you're a smart person, you should discard that crap like yesterday's lunch.

Non-politicians, whether leftist/liberal/progressive or conservative, are AGAINST authoritarianism. (With some exceptions - there are authoritarian followers, bless their fearful little hearts. And police.)

Most politicians, whether they claim to be liberal or conservative or "centrist" ARE authoritarian. It's kind of a pre-requisite for the career field, after all.

It follows from those two points that for politicians, claiming that they're not authoritarian is a career requirement.

And stop acting like fascism is a liberal failing.

And stop acting like fascism is a liberal failing. Politicians that try to follow the Constitution and Declaration aren't authoritarian IMHO. American Conservatives are not authoritafrian/fascist, by definition. Liberals ARE authoritarian/fascist by their actions.

Is support for the NSA's internal spying programs authoritarian, in your view?

Outside the Beltway, majorities of both liberals and conservative are against NSA spying on Americans.

On the other hand, politicians of both parties allow NSA spying to continue. Politicians of both parties allow/support the corralling of protesters into "free speech zones," instead of recognizing that the United States is a free speech zone by virtue of the First Amendment.

At least to that extent, politicians of both parties are authoritarian. I realize that you don't recognize many Republican politicians as true American Conservatives, but that supports my point that the majority of politicians don't represent the people.

A MESSAGE FROM THE QUEEN

To the citizens of the United States of America from Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

In light of your failure in recent years to nominate competent candidates for President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately. (You should look up 'revocation' in the Oxford English Dictionary.)

Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except North Dakota, which she does not fancy).

Your new Prime Minister, David Cameron, will appoint a Governor for America without the need for further elections.

Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire may be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed.

To aid in the transition to a British Crown dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

-----------------------

1. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'colour,' 'favour,' 'labour' and 'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix '-ize' will be replaced by the suffix '-ise.' Generally, you will be expected to raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. (look up 'vocabulary').

------------------------

2. Using the same twenty-seven words interspersed with filler noises such as ''like' and 'you know' is an unacceptable and inefficient form of communication. There is no such thing as U.S. English. We will let Microsoft know on your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take into account the reinstated letter 'u'' and the elimination of '-ize.'

-------------------

3. July 4th will no longer be celebrated as a holiday.

-----------------

4. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers, or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not quite ready to be independent. Guns should only be used for shooting grouse. If you can't sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist, then you're not ready to shoot grouse.

----------------------

5. Therefore, you will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous than a vegetable peeler. Although a permit will be required if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

----------------------

6. All intersections will be replaced with roundabouts, and you will start driving on the left side with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion tables. Both roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British sense of humour.

--------------------

7. The former USA will adopt UK prices on petrol (which you have been calling gasoline) of roughly $10/US gallon. Get used to it.

-------------------

8. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French fries are not real chips, and those things you insist on calling potato chips are properly called crisps. Real chips are thick cut, fried in animal fat, and dressed not with catsup but with vinegar.

-------------------

9. The cold, tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually beer at all. Henceforth, only proper British Bitter will be referred to as beer, and European brews of known and accepted provenance will be referred to as Lager. South African beer is also acceptable, as they are pound for pound the greatest sporting nation on earth and it can only be due to the beer. They are also part of the British Commonwealth - see what it did for them. American brands will be referred to as Near-Frozen Gnat's Urine, so that all can be sold without risk of further confusion.

---------------------

10. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as good guys. Hollywood will also be required to cast English actors to play English characters. Watching Andie Macdowell attempt English dialect in Four Weddings and a Funeral was an experience akin to having one's ears removed with a cheese grater.

---------------------

11. You will cease playing American football. There is only one kind of proper football; you call it soccer. Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which has some similarities to American football, but does not involve stopping for a rest every twenty seconds or wearing full kevlar body armour like a bunch of nancies).

---------------------

12. Further, you will stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event called the World Series for a game which is not played outside of America. Since only 2.1% of you are aware there is a world beyond your borders, your error is understandable. You will learn cricket, and we will let you face the South Africans first to take the sting out of their deliveries.

--------------------

13.. You must tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us mad.

-----------------

14. An internal revenue agent (i.e. tax collector) from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly to ensure the acquisition of all monies due (backdated to 1776).

---------------

15. Daily Tea Time begins promptly at 4 p.m. with proper cups, with saucers, and never mugs, with high quality biscuits (cookies) and cakes; plus strawberries (with cream) when in season.

God Save the Queen!
