Me and my clogs are back.

Stand alone shower. Popped the drain and could see bunch of hair. No problem. Grabbed the snake tool, feed it down and pulled it out. Fed it some more pulled out more. Did this one more time.

Fired the water back up to clean my mess and water backs up now worse than before. A slow drain went to a no drain. I worked some more with the snake, but could never get it to go farther than about a foot and a half. Not sure if the pipe turns or what but now it's worse than before and my snake ain't working.

Whats the next best step? Haven't tried any chemicals yet, since I could see what I thought was the clog anyway. Toilets in same bathroom is fine, sinks outside the shower room are fine. Haven't checked the run in the same room as shower cause it never gets used and had crap in it. Plus I just thought if it and am in bed now n

Down some digging and since there is no overflow, might try to just plunge it. My guess now after searching is my snake can't make the sharp turn up the trap. Will try plunging, then the baking soda vinegar trick. Any other ideas are welcome.

Had a shower in the master bath draining slow, it turned out to be the tub in the kids bathroom that was clogging up.

Was that tub draining slow too? I used their tub to shower and it's fine. Never had an issue in that bathroom. .

I have avoided handling drain hair in the past by just dumping Drano. If all else fails or you just are too grossed out by hair handling, try Drano or one of its generic counterparts.

I'd use chemicals. I wouldn't want to get my hands into all the evidence of the long showers someone has been taking....

heh.

Yeah, the smell from the first HUGE clump was GROSS. that was my thinking was it's just past the bend. Does Draino work on hair?

If only someone made something that one could pour down a drain to unclog hair and other organic materials.

Look, fake doctor, I am aware of those products. Just was trying a non chemical way first. ;)

Picking some up at lunch and seeing what happens. i know it usually says to wait 0.5-1 hour to flush it through. Any issues with waiting 4 until i get home from work?

Might try this stuff first. Has stellar reviews. Contains lye, but i am sure that is not an issue with the number of positive reviews it has. Says it dissolves hair and creates heat to melt grease.

Leaving it set for that long may cause a Problem if you Have Plastic drain pipe.
If yer gonna use it I'd wait till ya can be home to flush it clean after the recommended time. No sense taking a chance.

It does, or at least it has for me.

Just don't go too far with the chemicals or you might inadvertently turn your home into a meth lab (http://www.panthraxnation.host.sk/shakenbake.html). ;)

' Sigh of relief'

......now about that leaky faucet.......

Seriously, I'm about to start a major remodel. Kitchen, dining room, master bath, moving the front door and windows, moving interior walls. Oh, and a whole house rewiring. This is not gonna be pretty.

now about that leaky faucet.......

Before anything else, make sure that you know how to shut off your water.

In my limited experience, a rubber washer is all that's needed to fix a leaky faucet. I've had the issue in our bathtub a few times and every time I've opened the handle I've seen a corroded (and disgusting) washer inside

Next time you can use baking soda and vinegar in the drain. Let that set for about 30 minutes then flush with boiling water. Did this in my old apartment and it worked like a charm
