Soonerscoop reporting: "Parker says the work is now cut out for him and rest of Sooners '14 class to recruit Michaih Quick & in-state product Deondre Clark." Fingers crossed.

Here's a link (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/collegefootball/jenks-steven-parker-the-state-s-top-recruit-commits-to/article_0d59bbac-8dc3-11e3-9b45-0017a43b2370.html)

Union coach Kirk Fridrich coached against Parker twice in 2013, resulting in losses during the regular season and in the Class 6A state championship game.

What was it like competing against Parker?

“It’s horrible,” Fridrich said with a slight chuckle.

Lo and behold, he's persona non grata to a certain scorned lover (http://forums.texags.com/main/forum.reply.asp?topic_id=2444705&forum_id=5)

Listening to Parker he really sounds like a bright focused kid. I think we are going to be very glad he chose to come to OU.

Lifted OU from #21 to #14 in the recruiting rankings.

6'2", I like that size for a safety.

OU has 4 DB commitments listed at 6-1 or above, and already either 200lbs, or have a chance to get there.

Hmmmmmmm.....what professional team did we recently see that had big DB's?

The Titans?

If by Titans you mean some sort of oceanic raptor you'd be correct.

It's funny, because Gabe Lynn was considered a "better" prospect coming out of high school, but I've watched as much film as I could find on Parker, and he seems like the better talent (compared to Lynn coming out of high school). It's not an easy comparison, since Lynn played CB in high school, but I think they have similar traits/builds.

Parker doesn't hit as hard as Lynn did, but his angle of attack and ball hawking seem much better at this stage in his development. Parker also seems to have a higher football IQ than Lynn did. Of course Lynn was playing out of position most of his time at OU.

I really like Parker, but he's going to have to really stand out to see the field next year.

I'm still trying to decide whether taking 3 safeties this year means they are worried about depth or our current freshman class.

We're only taking 2, but it doesn't invalidate your question.

You really have to wonder what the reasoning is, as I think Byrd/Thomas are both pretty good prospects. I wonder if the thought is moving one of them (any of the 4) to NB when Wilson leaves? Any way you look at it, we've got an embarrassment of riches in the defensive secondary.
