EDIT: Iowa State Thursday option is gone; game is now Nov. 1.

OSewe game is now Dec. 6; was an option to play Nov. 30 or Dec. 6.

Earlier, Tulsa and WVU dates moved. Sooners now have three bye dates in 2014.

Aug. 30 -- LA Tech in Norman
Sept. 6 -- Tulsa at Tulsa (ABC/ESPN/ESPN2)
Sept. 13 -- Tennessee in Norman
Sept. 20 -- WVU at Morgantown
Sept. 27 -- BYE
Oct. 4 -- TCU at Ft. Worth
Oct. 11 -- Texas at Dallas
Oct. 18 -- Kansas St. in Norman
Oct. 25 -- BYE
Nov. 1 -- Iowa State at Ames
Nov. 8 -- Baylor in Norman
Nov. 15 -- Texas Tech at Lubbock
Nov. 22 -- Kansas in Norman
Nov. 29 -- BYE
Dec. 6 -- OSU in Norman

Nice to have the break in the road games from Sept. 20 through Oct. 11, but there are still parts of this schedule I don't like. Couple of IED games here.

as a coach, I'd love that...4 game break 4 games break then 4 games, possible break or 5 games. just in case for health, re-energize, with 2 tough games every group...just my 2 cents

And then withdraw OUr team from the title game? Maybe it will be the OU team to unionize and go on strike for the title game?

x2. Our skill guys especially could use all the reps they can get before getting to the meat of the schedule.

Tulsa looks like they could be salty, too, and Tennessee will be dangerous. Good recruits coming into that program. Gonna be an interesting season.

the geniuses at my high school (Owasso) scheduled our 20 year reunion during football season. before it was during the same weekend as the Tulsa game. now it's the WV game. lame.

What?! That's crazy. The people in charge must not be Sooner fans.

I'm more worried about the return trip to Knoxville in 2015, but I do think they will be a good challenge this season.

To me its playoffs or bust. Anything other then the playoffs will be a disappointment.

When will the Big-12 / TV make a call on the oSu game? Seems certain it will be moved to "championship weekend" as it has the last few years. Also ... 12-0 and a Big-12 title and playoff spot is certainly very real possibility. Sooners should be favored in every game.

Yea it should be a no brainer. The game hasn't to be played on championship weekend.

Here's a short article from AP

Big 12 switches dates of 3 football games
AP - Sports

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- The Big 12 has made three changes to its 2014 football schedule.
Two Oklahoma game dates have been switched. The Sooners' game at Tulsa has been moved up two weeks to Sept. 6, the second Saturday of the season. That game had been set for Sept. 20, when Oklahoma will now play at West Virginia in a game that was originally scheduled a week later.
SEC champion Auburn's game at Kansas State has been moved to Sept. 18, a Thursday night, for a national ESPN broadcast. That game had been set for two days after that.
More changes are possible. Television selections for the first three weeks of the season and special dates aren't due to the conference until June 1.

I hope OSU is Thanksgiving weekend but it will probably be Dec. 6. I wonder when they will confirm?

For playoff purposes it is much better if it on Dec 6. I think the Big 12 understands this.

I hope they do.

Since it's the final regular season game, maybe they feel like they have more time to make that change.

Tech at Lubbock. Idk if I'd rather see that early or late in the year.

Due to weather I'd rather see it earlier, not later, though I'm not so sure I worry about it quite so much that now the Mad Scientist Pirate is gone.

Sept. 13 -- Tennessee in Norman
Sept. 20 -- WVU at Morgantown

I am not sure why it was ever a consideration for the Big 12 to move the game back to Nov 29. The Big 12 needs to have that game on conference championship weekend. In a very close race it could make the difference in a Big 12 team getting into the playoffs.

The consideration as I understand it is both Stoops and Gundy don't like having the off week due to the interruption of recruiting.

I only like the November 29 slot when the game is in Stillwater. Kids don't want to miss out on Thanksgiving Break for a game, and most of them won't unless there's more than bragging rights on the line.

Me too, but I'm afraid it's here to stay (for OU and other big time programs). Too much money to be made by the networks. Thankfully, we don't have one this year.

Tennessee will be a tough test. Secong year coach. The players will catch up with their systems.

TU, however, will be anything but salty. I think they won 3 games last year? If we struggle with them, then it could be a long year.
