View Full Version : Bob Stoops started the Browns' job rumors?

Jason Somebody or other from CBS Sports has made the statement that Bob is behind the Cleveland job uproar . According to him Bob either wants out of Norman or is angling for a raise. I'm too lazy to look for a link or find the reporters last name. I personally think this dude has been huffing Whiteout in the employee bathroom. Does anyone really think Bob,who just this past year signed an extension to keep him in Norman until 2020 is looking to leave Norman? I find that hard to fatom,AS FOR A RAISE ; BOB HAS GOTTEN RAISES ALMOST EVERY YEAR AND I AM GUESSING WILL GET INCENTIVE BONUSES FOR LEADING OU TO A BCS WIN OVER BAMA AND A #6 FINAL RANKING.

Jason Whitlesslock? Used to, or still does write for the Kansas City paper?

He's a notorious Stoops and Sooners hater. He's wrong 9 times out of 10.

Browns never intended or prepared to interview Bob Stoops. He wants out and/or wants a raise. Won't be coming from them

Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports has come out and made a strong statement regarding Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops and the Cleveland Browns. LaCanfora not only kills the idea of the Sooner head coach going to the Browns, but he also puts the entire rumor on Stoops. He is suggesting that Stoops created the speculation in an effort to create interest in him and get a raise out of Oklahoma.

Stoops has the Sugar Bowl victory over Alabama to argue for a raise, but the rumors of him potentially going to the Browns came out before that game occurred. All of this ultimately comes down to whether or not people believe what LaCanfora is saying, but the language is incredibly strong, so he is really putting himself out there on this report. If he is wrong on it, there would likely be some ugly backlash. Meanwhile, Stoops has played coy on the rumors the entire time, so it will be interesting to see if he addresses it or just lets it go away on its own.

I heard it was some NFL network jackazz from St. Louis who previously covered Alabama football in Birmingham that started the rumor. Probably some Sugar Bowl butt-hurt.
It sure was shot-down quickly though by some Cleveland sportswriter, Mary Kay somebody. Maybe a little too quick.

If we'd lost the Sugar Bowl there would be no rumors of Bob jumping to the NFL. End of story.

I was thinking "not likely, doesn't sound like Bob" until this phrase...

>>According to him Bob either wants out of Norman or <<

Then it totally lost credibility.

I stole it from the robbery story a month or so ago. Perhaps the two cats were also stolen?

I did that once. Had a 6'4 receiver that was at least 98 in speed, agility, acceleration, and jumping. I was really fond of him. Never could get him to the 2,000 mark, though.

I thinks it's a labyrinth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labyrinth#Christian_use), though it seems to be missing a Jennifer Connelly.

BTWwhatever happened to the original point of this thread? :)
I thought somebody out there more tech savvy than me(preety much everyone else on SF) would find a link to the CBS Sports story.I got up this morning to find the story and give details to no avvail. I apparently have had a brain fart overnight and unable to find the original story or site where I found the story.

To the original point of the thread...
1) Bob prolly had his agent trolling Joe C for more $$
2) Bob MAY have angled for a way out of Norman. He had Boren on the phone with his agent after the Neb game in 00, saying that he was gone or he wanted a lot of moula.
3) God that house is awfully tacky.

On another noter note, it looks like the house is throwing up. The stone (I'm sure it cost too much) walkway doesn't match anything else. To each their own, but this is proof that $ doesn't buy taste.

Everybody should. I have something similar at my house but much better, in that it is made from durable yet asthtetically pleasing aluminum material attached to the side of the house.
