"Next week, when the Sooners take on Alabama in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, Stoops will be making his ninth BCS bowl appearance in 15 years.

That’s more than Alabama coach Nick Saban.

More than former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel.

More than, well, anyone."

"Fittingly, as the ball drops on the BCS era, Stoops is back in a BCS bowl.

Where Mr. BCS always seems to be."

no question

although, it's really attrition right? :D

he started one year after the BCS starts, and has been in the same place the whole time

who is close? Beamer, Bowden, Carrol, Saban, Tressel?

Yep, but it might be as an NFL coach.

Congrats to Stoops, his assistants and his players. He's had a lot of good ones along the way and the future looks bright as well.

I could be a negative nancy and point out that Stoops usually loses when he goes BCSing, but unless you are a dumb Poke or a SEC chanter, I think we can all agree that we'd rather be going to BCS bowls, especially national championship ones, than winning mid-mediocre ones annually.

The teams who make BCS bowls should be allowed to name the non-BCS bowls. Beef O'Meineke is a good one. How bout Fight American Mortgage Hunger :P

You could move the Pinstripe/Poinsettia Bowl to play in the old stadium in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.

A merged Poulan/Weedeater Bowl could put them into financial stability for a while.

How about The Jose Cuervo Fiesta Bowl. Accurate, at least.
