Dayum you sure aint got ANY confidence in this team at all do you?

One question tho, I can see where the Injuries on the O line will make you think we wont score much , But How does that weakened O line allow THEM to score 45?
I dont see our D giving up that much.
You really think we are are FOUR TD Dogs to Bama? Really?
What ever yer smoking Please keep it to yerself ok?

Heres their record. Yea we laid a couple eggs, But I cant even inmagine losing by 28 points.

[QUOTE=olevetonahill;4292609]Dayum you sure aint got ANY confidence in this team at all do you?

All things considered (injuries mostly), this has been a good year. And next year may be the start of a rise back to legitimate NC contention.

But no, I have very little confidence this team can go into the third quarter with Bama and still be in the game.

You saw what Bama did to that really good ND defense last year. Why expect that it can't do the same to OU? Especially if our defense is on the field a lot because the offense is doing a lot of three and out.

Handling Bama's dline would already be a tough job for an injury free team. With Thompson and Shead on the bench...it seems like an unmanageable job.

I don't think that Bama's margin of victories this year are a reliable indicator of how many points it will score on Thursday. Look at USC's scores in 2004. Nothing indicated the ability to put up 55 points and win by 5 touchdowns.

It's very hard being the number one ranked team week after week. You are circled on every opponent's calendar and usually get its very best effort. But now, Bama has had a chance to rest and put all its energy in one last game. That frightens me.

I don't think it will be quite that bad, but it will be a beat down. Arguably this is the #1 team against a beat up team that could be ranked somewhere 15th ~ 18th if not for a blown non interception call in our favor against OSU. That arguably #1 team could come in either complacent, or angry as hell that they aren't getting their chance to defend their title and determined to make an example of someone.

I applaud the bravado of those who think this is a great opportunity, but if we're honest with ourselves we know this is a big mismatch. Yes, if we somehow make it a close game we get some respect back, but if we get a 2005 USC NC type reaming it will further separate us from the elite status and probably damage to our recruiting prospects.

With the injuries to key players I was pleasantly surprised by our record this year - I was one of the pre-season pessimists thinking it was going to be a 4~5 loss season. It would be a shame to end this season on such a sour note if we do get pummeled. Actually I thought it would be a reasonably well matched game and fitting ending that everyone could have got excited about if we would have been invited to a rematch with Texas and Mack's final game.

That OSU feed is awesome. So glad that's online because that is what I was listening to as I was driving my car.

The call is a no-brainer, hence the THREE officials running up to signal that it was incomplete. It is incomplete for two reasons. First, he has to make the catch through the act of coming down on the tackle. He did not. Second, the ball actually came out before he was officially down since he was on top of Bester.

You are entitled to your opinion. My eyes see that at 5:35 he's on the ground still with possession of the ball and he's not on top of Bester. It's debatable if the split second he was on the ground with possession was long enough to be considered "completing the play". We know "completing the process" is a rule in the NFL - is it the same in college ball? I honestly don't know. In a judgement call - its an interception in my book. For sure it was close enough regardless that if the roles were reversed half of this message board would be screaming that we were screwed.

To the original point of this thread, we're talking about arguably the #1 team in the country versus a beat up team that could be easily ranked somewhere 15~18 had a single close call gone the other way. Unfortunately, there is a much greater likelihood that we get stomped and look bad rather than the positive outcome of playing a close game or winning. I think we agree on that point. I'd much rather see us in a more competitively matched game. Don't need a beat down from Alabama to conclude we're not an elite team this year

Agree. I thought a Bama/Ohio State and Clemson/OU matchup would have been a better pairing.

Yes, it is the same in college. He has to maintain possession through the tackle.

Other than that, I agree that this is likely to be a one-sided game in favor of Bama, hence my prediction on the first page.

Me too. But when the guys tied it at 7 then scored a TD after Bama's
FG, I thought, out loud, that's two punches Bama landed and we came
right back, I felt the "January surprise" I mentioned in another thread
was gonna come to pass!
