I'm always interested in what kind of traditions families have around the holidays, so chime in!

I don't have any wild traditions for Christmas, just the usual. However, about 10 years ago, the adults in the family started a tradition that involves Macallan whiskey. After all the kids are put to sleep, the adult males in the family meet in front of the fireplace (even if it's not that cold outside, we have to have a fire going), and empty a bottle of Macallan. It has to be from their "Estate Reserve", and we have to finish the bottle. Since there's usually about 6 or 7 (probably 10 this year), it's not too hard, and nobody gets hammered. Just a fun little thing that I greatly look forward to every year.

Nothing so risqué as naked twister and body shots...much, much
tamer...homemade egg noodles with chicken meat, stock and butter
balls...a soup dish that dates back at least 100 years on the wife's side
of the family...a family toast and gifts on Christmas Eve. That leaves
Christmas Day for wonderful eating, some football and family time.
Been together for 37 years and that's happened 37 times...makes for
warm comfort all around.

While I'm at it...Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all! Boomer!

My Christmas tradition is bringing up politics with my socialist and/or communist family members.

Back in the day my friends and I would go in on an 8 ball.

Guaranteed there would be snow for the Holidays.

Please tell us you call it a pi KAHN pie.

A tradition my family enjoys: at my in laws on Christmas Eve, we have to take turns opening presents. This becomes tedious. So, many yrs ago my bro-in law and I began making wads out of wrapping material and throwing them about. This quickly caught on with our kids as a favorite part of the holiday, much to my mother-in-law's chagrin. Years later, the tradition lives on, even though my former bro-in-law has divorced himself out of the family. His replacement has picked up the slack nicely. Last night, once again, a good time was had by all. My mother-in-law doesn't even complain about it too much these days.

We always celebrate Christmas the weekend before Christmas. This lets all the kids and their other families enjoy the actual 25th of December on the 25th; and allows us to get the **** over with and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Of course I usually just work (right now in a po-dunk Quality Inn in Hastings, NE waiting to pick up a truck in the morning). Still only 3 1/2 years to be completely debt free with $1 million free and clear in the bank. Almost there...
