I'm not sure why exactly Saban brought in Kiffin. I can tell you that they brought in Mike Leach as offensive consultant before the Notre Dame game last year and Bob Stoops before the Texas game in '09, but Kiffin? As an offensive coordinator he's okay, but I would just as soon not have him involved in the program in any way. One things for sure though, he leads one hell of a charmed life. Continues to land on his feet despite having never produced as a Head Coach.

Kiffin should never haven been promoted further than OC. That's where he did his best (well, really, his only) work. I think it's a smart move by Saban. Kiffin will be relegated to sitting in the press box during the games, and won't have to answer to the media unless it's cleared through Saban first. Good move for Bama.
