Fascinating if long piece in the Washington Post about all the Heisman trophies...the Post tracked them all down to document what has happened to the actual trophies. Also a nice bit about Jason White and his daughter learning to stand for the first time by...using the Heisman Trophy as a balancing post.

One boo-boo though...Mike Garrett played for USC. Where's Billy Sims?

EDIT: my bad. There are five trophies physically in Oklahoma, including Mike Garrett of USC, who is now AD at Langston. My apologies for the error.

Cute story about Jason's Heisman. It's almost too bad he was such a strong finalist the next year. It would have been nice for AD to get one his best college year

Yeah, that was a bizarre year. We apparently split the vote between JW and AD, but Bush and Leinart didn't split the vote enough, I guess. Or they split it 30/70 or something.

Steve Owens' trophy has a chip on the underneath side of the stiff arm. Story goes that a babysitter of Mike and Blake (RIP, nice kid) had a boyfriend over and he dropped it! Can you imagine what was going through that kid's head when that happened?

I only picked it up once after hearing that. :)
It is fugging HEA-VY!

It's fitting that Hornung sold his, he didn't deserve it and he knew it.
