I really don't know why anyone acknowledges the AP anymore, it holds zero relevance

Beating a top 10 team on the road will do that for you. Congrats and look forward to a good time together in NO.

Actually this was the last year it held relevance. It was still good for a split National Championship(2003 when LSU, and USC split the NC), but that all changes next year with the playoffs. With the winner of the playoffs being champion without any need of voting or any dispute.

The only good thing about the AP poll, biased it was, it provided an element of continuity back to the 1930's.

You do realize that no one really acknowledged usc as the champion that year don't you
