Oklahoma quarterback Blake Bell might have thrown the worst and best passes of his career in the span of three throws. The one on the bad end of the spectrum ultimately didn't cost his Sooners. The other one won them the game. Bell found Jalen Saunders in the back right corner of the end zone with 19 seconds left for the go-ahead score in Oklahoma's 33-24 upset of Oklahoma State in Stillwater. Saunders was one-on-one with his defender and Bell lasered a throw into his mitts as Saunders got his feet down before going out of bounds. Just before Oklahoma's drive that covered 66 yards in 1:27, Oklahoma State thought it might have had the drive that won the Big 12 title after Desmond Roland ran it in from a yard out with 1:46 left to take a 24-20 lead. All Oklahoma State had to do was win the game and the Big 12 title and a Fiesta Bowl berth was theirs. And those thoughts intensified significantly two plays before Bell's throw to Saunders. Bell lofted a jump ball in the direction of Jaz Reynolds and OSU defensive back Justin Gilbert, perhaps the best corner in the conference. It was a pass that frankly, Reynolds had no shot at, as he turned into the defensive back. Gilbert had the ball as he landed on top of Reynolds, but as his hip hit the ground, the ball escaped his grasp. The pass was incomplete. Bell was in the game in the second half after starting quarterback Trevor Knight suffered an injury late in the first half while scrambling towards the end zone. Coach Bob Stoops initially inserted Kendal Thompson in Knight's place, but after three drives, Bell finished the game as the primary signal caller. The Oklahoma win sets up Texas' visit to Baylor as a winner-take-all affair for the Big 12 conference and that Fiesta Bowl spot. Now Oklahoma State must wait to see if it'll slip into the BCS as an at-large team or go to the Cotton or Alamo Bowl. And you may be wondering how Oklahoma ended up with 33. On the final play of the game, Oklahoma State attempted a series of laterals that ended up near the end zone and the Sooners picked up the ball for a touchdown. A touchdown that also flipped the total to the over side of the game's over/under. - - - - - - - Nick Bromberg is the assistant editor of Dr. Saturday on Yahoo Sports. Have a tip?
