Watching Iowa @Nebraska and I do not think he survives. Another outburst followed by a fake punt that really goes awry.

He will not be returning.

I know some nebbish, and they are NOT EVEN CLOSE to happy with him as coach these days.

Perhaps Lane Kiffin would be more at home there.

Also his little snit with the reporter walking off the field at halftime. You would think that these guys would get the fact that as HC's of their programs, they are the schools ambassadors whether they like it or not. Say what you want about guys like Mack Brown, they understand there is more to being a HC then just X's and O's. If for no other reason you would think Pelini would put a cork in it just to keep his job with his inflated compensation because it isn't likely he will be getting another like it.

Do share what happened.

I agree that Bo Pelini is making it hard for Nebraskans to be their stereotypical nice, polite selves. Then again, they joined the Big Ten, which is full of foul mouthed boo birds, so that could also have an impact.

Of course, if they were to fire Bo Pelini, who would they be able to get? Ex-AD Steve Pederson tried to pull the same stunt when firing Frank Solich. Derp derp not gonna cede control of the Big 12 to Oklahoma and Texas, derp derp. Best job in the country, derp derp. One-man search committee, derp derp.

Whoever needs to milk their program for a pay raise will pretend to be interested, but in the end, they'll get some has-been no-job coach that fits even worse than Bo. Last time, they got Bill Callahan. This time, they get...

Thank you, and thank you also for having a SF.com nickname that makes this thread read as follows on the main page: " Pelini will be fired (IMO) Sooner or Later" :D

Also, Bo showed off how bald he was later in the game:

After a check it looks like the Cornhuskers might be keeping their coach for a while. I had no idea. What were they thinking when the did this?

Yknow, they're traitors and sucks to be them and all, but just for fun, a recap of how batsh!t crazy their Bo is:

At the very least, however, it's not like they're lacking wins. They're 8-4 with a chance to be 9-4 with a bowl win. There's something to be said for that. Look where previous SEC mentionables Florida and Arky are this season :D

just a couple hrs ago my Dad and I were bemoaning the loss of the OU-Neb game from the Big 8 days... we had to explain to my 20 yr old son what a great rivalry it used to be, and the great comebacks in the King's days...now all we have to look fwd to ate the end of the season is those upstarts from Stillwater.

"If they want to fire me, go ahead," Pelini told reporters after the Cornhuskers' 38-17 loss to Iowa on Friday to finish the regular season 8-4. "I believe in what I've done. I don't apologize to you. I don't apologize to anybody, myself or this staff. My record, our record since I've been here, speaks for itself. And this program is heading in a good direction.

"You choose not to think so, that's your prerogative. All I know is myself, this staff, the people who have been associated with this program since I've been here can look themselves in the mirror and feel good about what they've done."

I really wish they were still our annual rival game with Big 12 on the line and all so I could laugh even harder at their trainwreck (who admittedly, still wins more than not, so can you really fire him?)

If you're a NFL Team 8-4 puts you in pretty good shape. In college ball all it will get you is a trip to a mediocre bowl that nobody cares about. Even your own players sometimes.

Pelini is a crude lout. They knew that when they hired him. It all comes down to winning, and he is losing four games a year in a weak conference and his wins are against awful teams. Then add the fact Neb has not won any title since 1999. Now, suddenly, his no class conduct is terrible. If he was winning 11 games a year and going to BCS bowls, their fans would ignore his conduct. It's the same everywhere.

Pay no attention to length of contract that is all window dressing. The key is what is his buyout? As far as I can tell it is about $4.5 mil. Which is large to you or me, but not really that large in this conversations.

I was shocked early in the year when I saw that Taylor Martinez was still their QB. That guy has been there forEVER. Just getting rid of him has to improve their team.

They are down to their 3rd string QB. That doesn't get many wins for most teams.

This. It seems like they've been in the Big 10 for some time now, and yet he was the starter when we beat them in the last CCG. There's loyalty and then there's stupidity. If he were the starting QB at Northwestern or Iowa State and had been as successful as he has been, I could understand it. But you'd think Nebraska could find a couple of guys with a bigger upside during the time he's been starting.

And on the other hand, if we assume that he's still starting because they somehow haven't brought in anyone better, then who knows? Maybe they won't actually improve when he finally leaves.

Edit: In light of Bouldersooner79's post, maybe it's not by choice. But still. That's an awful long time to have the same well-established level of mediocre QB running the show.

They honored Martinez on Senior Day today by getting crushed at home by a mediocre Iowa team. The program has become totally irrelevant on a national level. What is the appeal of going to play for Nebraska? It's sub zero about half the year, you play in a lousy conference, you will probably go to nothing better than a minor bowl, and your coach is a crude nut job, sort of a Bobby Knight without the winning. And if you are African American, you will probably comprise about one percent of their black enrollment.

Except at OU where everybody realizes that the only thing standing between us and the next victory is getting our 3rd string QB more playing time.

And my prediction was made during the game. Then, Bo made me look even smarter in his press conference.

I predict he does not coach the bowl game now.

That got Frank Solich fired......

Pelini is not head coach material, he doesn't have the temperament for it, he is a coordinator who ascended to his level of incompetence.

Even your own players sometimes.Particularly at a school that has tasted winning NC's. Any more than 2 losses gets the boo birds out...kinda like multiple 10-3 seasons at OU does.

Looks like Nebraska needs to get a new A.D. also. This guy Eichorst is either an idiot or a liar. Maybe both. Who could possibly "look forward to our upcoming bowl game and Coach Pelini continuing to lead our program in the future.”

Pelini is a lousy HC and a black eye for the program.
