Every expert...with the exception of 1, picked the Mildcats to beat OU on Saturday

WTF??

Is that surprising to you? I haven't seen much of KSU, but looking at common opponent stats, KSU looked better in losses to UT and Baylor as well as in victory over TT. We both struggled against TCU. Add in our QB situation and playing on the road and I can understand the picks for KSU.

Did you watch the first half against Iowa State? There are some high schools in this country who'd have gone into the locker room with a tidy lead against the OU that played that first half.
We could quite easily drop this game.

I'd be more pizzed if I were OKLAST. Only one person picking them.

We're on the road and we haven't been a consistent team. I bet most people here pick us (crimson glasses), but a majority would not be surprised if we lost. That, is telling.

Take this; add that the game is in Manhattan, and we are revolving QBs this late in the season, and it seems very logical from their point of view.

But I already added the road game factor and the QB issues, so you're adding them twice. Not fair! :friendly_wink:

+1 :( and living in Wichita...if KSU does win, it's gonna doubly suck. KSU fans don't shut up, heck, I still hear about the 2003 Big 12 champ game. Sheesh.

K-State is favored by as many as 4 by some sportsbooks. The line opened at 3 or 3 1/5.

Given that Knight is the starter, I think the Sooners win in a close one. I know KSU has played well lately, but they've beaten all the same teams OU has beaten, so I'm not overly impressed.

If OU can get any kind of offense at all started before halftime, OU could make this ugly for KSU. But, I suspect that it'll take awhile, and it doesn't get decided until the 4th.

I'll be stunned (very pleasantly so, I might add) if we DON'T drop this game. KSU's been playing quite well lately, their offensive strength (the running game) plays right into what our defense has struggled the most to stop this year (esp. when playing a team who tries & sticks w/ the run like they will). As for our offense, I don't think I even need to go into that. I'll just say that I think TK would do well to get used to a whole lot of purple near the LOS the vast majority of the day.

I think many outcomes are plausible....OU wins a squeaker, OU loses a squeaker, OU loses by two TDs, OU wins by two TD's (Knight's confidence builds and he plays to his potential)

I think KSU is getting their attention because of what they've done in the past 4 or 5 weeks. But, if you look closely, you'll see that their wins are against the same teams OU beat. I'm just not convinced KSU can/will win this game.

I really think it could get ugly for the Cats if our offense can get going before the second half.

Absolutely they can beat us. We've put out multiple performances this season that would have been L's against them. WVU, TCU and UT come to mind. Not saying they will win as they are not world beaters either.

I love the sooners but I don't blame them for picking ksu. They have an identity, a coach that schools stoops and they're playin at home. Gimme ksu minus 6. Throw in the fact tk is on the road without Williams and I would feel really comfy about the 6 pts. Still gonna watch and smash stuff when necessary

Not sure what this means? I believe Stoops has only lost to Snyder twice, and never in Manhattan. On that note, I think KSU will probably break the 17 year losing streak in Manhattan.

Snyder does way more with less. Stoops has had players to beat ksu I just don't think that's the case. If the squads are even I would take ksu this season. Not much to explain. Also you'll note I typically predict ou to lose every game, followed by my reasoning

That's awesome. I punched a hole in the wall of the apartment I was living in back in 2002 while watching the A&M game. The 2003 payback game was one of the most satisfying games I've ever watched.

KSU should rightfully be a solid favorite in this game. I watched them early in the season and they were not a good football team. But Snyder is a great coach and they are about the most improved team in the country. OSU has also improved significantly and apparently solved their qb issues. OU, on the other hand, has not improved and our qb problems have continued throughout the season. Instead of making qb changes based on strategy, we make changes because the starter gets hurt. When you compare our coaching with that of KSU and OSU, well, you have to wonder.

Knight hasn't faced a team with a .500 or better record either and yes, I see the smiley. :-) Hopefully, Knight will pass well in this game and Oklahoma wins to give us some hope for the game in Stillwater. If he doesn't pass well in this game, I don't see him passing well in Stillwater either and that game won't be fun.

I've heard several Sooner fans make this claim, but it's simply not true. Snyder's record against Stoops is 2-7. Anyway you slice it, that's not being "schooled".

Snyder is an excellent coach, and he does maximize his talent, but to say he's "schooled" Stoops in any way is just wrong.

Stoops was on Snyder's staff at KSU and therefore being schooled (becoming learned?) by Snyder.

While this is true, we also beat ULM 38-0 with knight not completing his first 6 or 7 (easy) passes, and then being iffy through the rest of the game and iffy again against WVU. KSU lost to North Dakota State or whatever the hell... KSU has improved a lot like everyone has said though, hopefully knight can actually complete passes and if he does I see us winning.

They should be able to beat all the FCS teams, since they're the #1 ranked FCS team. lol ... JK, I knew what you meant. They actually have a winning record against FBS teams over the last several years, although most haven't won their conference the year before like KSU.

I'll give u that. But this season Snyder has done a great job of identifying his team and putting them in the best position to win. That's pretty much what I was sayin. OU beat seton hall 87 85! I'm just afraid tomorrow doesn't bode well for us, despite the past records.

You're sort of a negative little fella, aren't you. Sit back, relax, have a shot of your favorite beverage and enjoy what the team has accomplished this year.

I am very impressed with the season they are turning in so far considering that we replaced a 4 year starter at QB this year and have had a tremendous amount of injuries to very key players. The defense is light years ahead of last year's defense. A lot of younger players are turning in very good seasons. There is a lot to look forward to. 9-2.

Meh. I read or heard somewhere that not a single "expert" predicted the Sox or the Cardinals to make the World Series this year. Same accuracy percentage among other so-called experts in other fields.

Those guys aren't any more insightful than most of the rest of us, just much luckier in getting TV contracts.

I used to be right there with you but then my kids got older and they all have played a lot of sports. The youngest girl still rows for OU. So now it is much easier to consider how the players and the team feels about how the fans are supporting or not supporting them. Coaches are still fair game to a certain extent but even then there is a time and a place for criticizing the coaches because too much negative criticism of the program ultimately affect the players.

OU fans need to at least try and see some positives in this season. This season is not a train wreck. Several players have acquitted themselves very well under trying circumstances. Lets give credit where credit is due.

I was a Blake Bell fan and still am. I thought he had paid his dues and deserved a chance. Now it seems apparent that the offense was designed for a QB with a little bit more mobility than Blake has. I do think Blake has played well for the most part and I suspect if Texas had played ND and TCU before the OU game instead of prepping for OU for 3 weeks(they obviously didn't prep for Iowa State) that OU-Texas may have turned out differently.
