Looks like Miami may be in deep doo-doo (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ap-source-miami-told-expect-184230622--spt.html).

The NCAA will unveil the findings of its investigation into Miami athletics and any proposed sanctions on Tuesday morning, about 2 1/2 years after the probe began and more than eight months after saying the Hurricanes did not ''exercise institutional control'' over former booster and convicted felon Nevin Shapiro's interactions with the football and men's basketball programs.

Ah, just in time to hit a ranked, undefeated football team instead of a losing fire-your-coach type football team :)

Miami did do a decent job in self-sanctioning. I could see the NCAA hitting them with scholarship reductions, but I don't know that they'll do much more.

not a whole lot more than the self imposed sanctions (yadda yadda cooperation, yadda yadda bungled investigation, etc...)

They may make them vacate some wins, but I don't see the hammer falling very much harder than beyond what was self-imposed. But if there is some additional harm brought to the program, Al Golden's future could get very interesting, especially with the UT vacancy at the end of this year.

Prolly get the NCAA equivalent of "time served" and "let this be a lesson to you!"....oh how it would please me to see them not get another bowl game...

Source: No bowl ban for Miami

Miami (http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/_/id/2390/miami-fl-hurricanes)'s football program will not receive a bowl ban but will lose nine scholarships as part of sanctions that will be handed down by the NCAA, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad.

The Hurricanes will lose three scholarships annually over the next three years, the source told Schad.

Additionally, former Miami men's basketball coach Frank Haith will be suspended five games and former assistant Jorge Fernandez will receive a two-year show-cause penalty, a source told ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

The suspension of Haith, currently the head coach at Missouri (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/_/id/142/missouri-tigers), is consistent with previous NCAA rulings. Saint Mary's (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/_/id/2608/saint-mary's-gaels) coach Randy Bennett was suspended five games this season. Two years ago, the NCAA suspended former UConn (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/_/id/41/connecticut-huskies) coach Jim Calhoun and UCF (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/_/id/2116/ucf-knights)'s Donnie Jones for three games.

The sanctions will be officially announced later Tuesday morning.

The NCAA's decision comes 2½ years after the investigation of Miami began. It also comes eight months after the NCAA said the Hurricanes did not "exercise institutional control" over Shapiro's interactions with the school's football and men's basketball teams. Shapiro is a former booster and convicted felon.

Miami earlier sat out two bowl games and last seasons' ACC title game as self-imposed sanctions.

Well, there's been a lot of turnover in that program lately, Shapiro's in jail, the players he paid are in the NFL or broke, the coach is gone, etc etc.

Miami's era of greatness is over. Yes, they're undefeated, but they will never have the advantage they once had now that everyone else does pro days, NFL pipeline-ness, etc. Dear oh dear, who will Drew Rosenhaus' clients be if the U can't provide them? ;)

apparently not. loss of 9 scholarships and no bowl ban.

thing that has me confused - 2 1/2 year investigation. are you f-ing kidding me???? how much time and money was wasted to determine something we already know? the only explanation, other than the ncaa being a corrupt organization, is the lead investigator was being paid by the hour.

To be fair, Miami gave itself a 2 year bowl ban while the investigation was going on.

Haith lies about illegal activities and gets way less than Blackmon did for lying about a legal activity. Okaaayyyyy......

Yep, just about what I figured would happen.

And, while 9 scholarships doesn't seem like a lot, it can make a big difference in how Miami looks in a few years. USC, (granted, they had more scholly's taken), is feeling the brunt of scholarship losses.
