Actually sounds like he snapped. I work in LE. I deal with a lot of schitzos and he is at the right age for this type of psych issue to arise. Usually triggered by stress. With his inability to play well, school stress and other factors he could have just snapped. Probably had some psych issues after he arrived and finally his behavior became more erratic.

Does not excuse it. May explain it. He'll probably get it plead down if they can prove psyche issues. He may get time in jail plus 2 years probation and counseling with meds I would imagine. Lawyer types around here would probably be able to explain it better.

In November 1970, Rentzel was arrested for exposing himself to a 10-year-old girl in University Park, a suburb of Dallas. His wife, singer/actress Joey Heatherton, divorced him shortly thereafter. Four years earlier, as a Viking, a similar incident occurred on a Minnesota playground. He was charged with disorderly conduct in exchange for promising to seek psychiatric treatment.

I think if you exposed yourself to young girls on a playground there's no way in heck you could plead that down to disorderly conduct in today's world. Must have been a different time...

yea, that was the obvious one. Hard to believe its been 10 years and I cant think of another since. The amazing part is most of the 5 stars we've have weren't worth 2 or 3 stars. Maybe I put too much stock in that because we've sure had our share of great players since AD

I've followed recruiting embarrassingly close for years, and I rarely care about the number of stars a player gets. It means very little most of the time.

Agree it often means nothing as many turn out to be busts, but on average I'm certain that a higher percentage of rivals 5-stars play on Sunday than do the percentages from any other star classification. Out of the 20 or so each year a fair number are NFL caliber talent, and if you look at the top 10 from each of the years I would estimate 40~50% of them played on Sunday. I think its obvious that physical development isn't always finished by the time a kid reaches 17 and that's why some studs don't emerge until later, but physical freaks like AD and Clowney who are there at 17 are easy to identify and put on those top 10 lists. Conversely a kid who has reached his physical peak by 17 (R.J. Washington?) may stand out from his peers at that time and be rated a 5-star, but then his development stops and he's passed up by the development of other kids an becomes the proverbial bust.

Agreed. There is a reason that a large number of players in the NFL are from places like Chadron State. Now, teams like Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas still put more guys in league per school than anyone else, but I was surprised to see how many guys come from D2 or lower. That tells me that a lot of guys develop later than others, or that the recruiting stuff is not an exact science.

Yeah, there's a link somewhere in this thread that will take you to the story. He, um, exposed himself to two separate women. In one of those cases, he asked a girl for a pen, and at some point in the conversation he exposed himself, then asked her if she wanted the pen back. I'm still trying to figure out how that could be worked into a conversation while trying to show a girl your junk.

Very, very sad! Mental illness can manifest itself in so many horrible ways. I hope he gets help, but I'm not going to hold my breath that it will happen, or help him in any significant way.

Well, it would be worth checking into for a social worker or cop if they had the interest or time. Youth, poor impulse control, frustration, nagging self doubt yadda, yadda, yadda. Bottom line: he's going to live on this planet another 50 years or so and, if he wants to do so outside of a jail, he's got to stop showing off his winky to inappropriate people in inappropriate circumstances. Maybe that's not fair to him or to his audience, but it's the way the law is written and enforced. He's just going to have to suck it up and get his mind around this fact.

At a much more fundamental level, the guy will not be able to avoid incarceration or pharmaceutical oversight unless he gets this under control on his own. His excuse doesn't matter, the machine will crush him unless he stops this, now, and doesn't do it ever again. And whoever loves him needs to make this very clear to him.
