Option #1: The Norm Chow School of Offense. The intrinsic qualities of your players are not the primary concern. Take what the defense gives you, above all else, even if your player talents dont match very well. If the D comes out in 9 man fronts then throw the ball 50 times a game and ditch the run, even if you are primarily a running team. If the D comes out in a 4 or 5 man box, then run the ball all day, even though your running game is not very good.

Option #2: The Chip Kelley School of Offense. Forget what the defense shows you. It doesnt make any difference what the defense does, because your player's natural skills need to be accentuated. It is foolish for a running QB to try to become a pocket passer, even if the defense is running stunts/blitzing and sending every free player against the QB and leaving open WRs.. "Dance with the one that brung ya" in other words.

Obviously most offensive coordinators use a mix between these 2 offensive philosophies. I tend to subscribe to #1. I think Stoops should have gone to both Heupel and Bell at halftime and told them to count the number of players in the box and throw the ball 80 percent of the time if there is more than 7.

If you had to choose one of those 2 philosophies, which would it be?
