I got curious about the ugly jersey numbers above the longhorn logo on the Texas helmets and saw that they are to honor the 1963 team.

Funny quote in hindsight:


Regardless of the aesthetics of the numbers, the good news for Texas is that the Horns have won all three of the games they have played with those helmets, though the font size is now a bit bigger, it appears.

And now they're going to put something on the helmets to honor the recently deceased James Street and the '69 national champions. Living in the past...
