Some Horn. Seriously, I remember him being shown quite often on the TV when his son was pitching for UT.

On a related note, watch the video at around 2:45. Why the f' was that cheerleader doing somersaults down the field right after the official blew the play dead and stopped the clock? Funny how people used to go on the field in the old days.

Yeah, I noticed that, and thought it was hilarious. It was so much less formal back in the day.

Arkansas/Texas was a huge rivalry, and the 1969 game was billed as the "Game of the Century". Funny how that title pops up every five years or so. By today's standards the game was a huge bore, and Street pulled off a couple of passes to win the game. Bleh.

Watched that game live. Pretty amazing play on the long pass. Unexpected, of course, since wishbone teams didn't do all that well in the passing game. Street was a pretty good wishbone quarterback.

I'm thinking he is considered the best UT wishbone qb of all time. RIP

I saw that too. That really made me laugh. The cheerleader was right in front of the official almost immediately after the play was over, lol.

Something else I notice in games from that era, while the players do celebrate big plays, it's nothing like they do now. They are somewhat subdued as far as emotion goes. The chest bump had yet to be invented.

Longhorn legend. Sad he went so early at 65 (heart disease is no joke). He has a lot of similarities with Archie Manning for the UT program. Won a title and then his son Huston Street did in baseball. He was always around the UT program. Had 5 sons and centered his life around family. RIP.
