AD broke the 9,000 yard career rushing yard mark this week(9,042),he also has 78 career rushing TDs.He is currently the #2 active rusher in the NFL,trailing only Steven Jackson.

Sam Bradford passed the 10,000 yard career passing mark(10,029). He also has 50 career TD passes.

He is such a phenom. It makes me sick that we never won a national championship with him. Hard to believe he didn't get the Heisman trophy either...

In 2006 AD was a lock for the Heisman before the injury in the Iowa State game. Prior to that point there wasn't any serious discussion about anyone else winning the trophy.

And, of course, that's why you can't count out freshmen. Sure they'll have other opportunities but you never know what kind of injuries might come along in their future. AD should have won it in 2004.

And if you're following AD's chances of making it to the HOF, at about 12,000 every player is either in the HOF or will be soon. The only exception is Edgerrin James. (Tomlinson and Bettis will make it.)

Some will argue Peterson is already a lock for HOF considering his accomplishments (most yards in a single game, second in yards in a single season, rookie of the year, MVP, 5 200 yard games, etc.). He's already passed some good ones like Earl Campbell. The only problem is he has few team accomplishments.


As it stands right now, 12,000 yards should be easy for Peterson to get. He very likely will pass OJ's record of six 200 yard games.

Anyone notice that the Vikings/Bears game came down to the exact scenario that played out in the Alabama/Auburn game? The Bears tried a really long field goal at the end of regulation. At first the Vikings didn't have a return man back but the players and fans were screaming to get someone back. The TV announcers actually mentioned that they must have seen the Alabama/Auburn game. The Vikings got someone back and the kick was short but was only returned to the 15 or so.

It sort of validated Saban's decision considering the Bears did the same thing. In the Bears defense they seemed to have some athletes on the field to cover the return and they also have a great kicker.

On the other hand, the Bears should know about that dangers considering Hester returned one a few years ago.

That's what happens when a players spends most his career with the Jets. Offensive rookie of the year, 5 pro bowls/all pro. Lead the AFC in rushing twice, NFL once. 3300 receiving yards to go with the 14k rushing. Never got hurt until the very end. The guy was a stud.

With as physical as AD loves to run I find it hard to believe he will catch Emmit.I preddicted(last year I think) that AD will end up at 14,000 or so yards in his career.Would love to see him reach #1.

Walter Peyton is the runner on that list that had a style that was most similar to ADs, IMO. Maybe AD can be as lucky and last that long (and *much* longer after football).

AD on the other hand seeks out contact,sometimes unecessarily. If I HAD to compare him to anyone,Eric Dickerson comes to mind due to size and upright running style.

I have to disagree on both points. Payton was a buzz saw of knees and elbows and often lowered his shoulder to deliver a blow. He also had a knockout punch for a stiff arm. Dickerson was more a similar size, but avoided contact whenever possible and was criticized because of that. He used his speed and vision, but saved his body whenever possible. I'd love to see AD start being more like Dickerson to extend his career, but I don't think he has it in him.

EDIT: Let me clarify. I meant that Payton and AD are similar in their physical approach since the context was AD potential longevity in the league. Here is an excerpt from one of the Bears websites.

"Payton never tried to avoid contact. In fact, he relished it. His only possible flaw was his reluctance to run out of bounds. He would rather punish a tackler than let the tackler punish him.

More than one opponent accused him of going out of his way to run over them and Payton readily admitted that was so.
