I read an article talking about how Knight was not impressive during spring practice but this summer and fall camps he clicked. I think this is going to be a similar process. He'll be slow and then it'll click. Hopefully it will click in the second half!! LOL!

Their are 2 main issues with the offense:

1. Guys running free in the backfield. I realize we've never been a paragon of keeping people stonewalled, but there are 2-3 leaking through on about every play. We are not going to be able to counter it with quick pitches against teams with more talented back ends.

2. QB Accuracy - He's just all over the place. If the offensive coaches don't trust the QB to put the ball in a safe place they are going to go into a shell.

Defense:

1. I like the closing speed of the DBs but man they are giving a TON of cushion (10+ yards). I'd rather them practice how we will play come big 12 time, not try to play vanilla up til Texas.
2. I can't tell if Tapper is really that good or if ULM's tackles are really that bad.

Actually we have 1 more soft home game, and then a bye weak before the real season starts at South Bend. I cannot say that I'm confident that Knight will be ready to go into Notre Dame, and win. However I would be confident if Bell was starting. Bell gives us a much better chance of winning.
