The guys that are coaching on the other sideline know 100X more about today's brand of football than PP it appears. I'm convinced that PP doesn't know the difference between come here and sic 'em.

Yeah this is somehow worse than losing twice in a row to Western Michigan

It is hard to fathom how EVERY facet of the team now stinks. It's hard to fathom how a mediocre OLine all came back the following year and got worse. It's hard to fathom that we are yet again in the negative turnover column after a 1-AA game. Hard to fathom how a center hikes the ball into his own nutsack on a fourth-and-1, or a KR drops the ball on our last drive, or that Hemingway missed yet another block, or that McCombs dropped yet another pass, or that Stewart missed a wide open tackle on a fourth-and-1 to give them a touchdown, or that the entire team missed an additional tackle on a fourth-and-6 to give Towson a final TD.

It's just f#$king hard to fathom....I need to go drink now...

I just peeked over at goEMAW.com, and I don't know if it's because K-State fans are just used to losing, but their melt down is pretty tame.

A NDSU fan posted something about "what do you think of us now?!", and half of the replies from the KSU fans were "congrats" and "enjoy your celebration".

Crazy.

Bob Stoops needs to face reality and stop whinin. It makes him (and us) look foolish.

The BigXII champion just got beat by a div 2 school.

.... at home.

Don't try to justify it. K-State will give us all we want as always and they can't beat a div 2 school.

No team... NO TEAM... in the Bix XII could really compete in the SEC. And we'd be a middle of the pack team in the PAC 12.
Big Ten, yeah, we could probably compete there.

But the longer we stay in this conference the softer we get and the respect we have simply comes from yester-year. We are just like Va-Tech. ... only we have a real tradition of winning.

But right now, we're simply a big fish in a little pond that is the Big XII.

You learn a lot about people when things don't go their way. How spoiled are we? We get our asses handed to us for the first time in forever and you'd think the world was falling apart. "It's over", Pete needs guts, pinpointing one person or even two people for four quarters of bad football, coaching staff stinks, etc. Really? I'm not saying we don't have to re-evaluate because I agree with the vanilla plan but anybody who blames four quarters of bad football on one person isn't somebody I want on my team or somebody I'd describe as having any kind of concept.

You guys have to decide if you trust our staff or not? Our head coach. You have to decide what kind of program you'd like to have here. If you'd like one that wins damn near every weekend for over a decade and preaches to its players to be first class on and off the field, stay on the train. If you're like half the SEC or like UW who only decided to suspend a guy when he was deemed unplayable this week as a result of injury, then got off. If you want to run Coach Pete off, keep stuff like this up. It will work. If you want to run recruits off, you're on the right path.

It's days like this where I figure out who I need to use my "ignore this member" tab on. You figure out who the problem solvers are and the problem dwellers are. I agree 100% we have issues, but do you really think you starting dumb threads like "Fire Prince" is good for our program? Good for recruiting?

Are you looking to make a point or make a difference with your actions?

We've become a pretty spoiled fanbase!

I am tired of the offense. I am. I am tired of this concept of "balanced" when it is anything effing but. We have all made excuses on here for FARRRRRRR too long for him. I'm tired of it. I found myself being ashamed to be a lifeline fan of the program. When you have this over the top silliness before you play your first game, you open yourself up to ridicule when you lay an enormous egg like they did last night.

Here's an idea let's start a new tradition called "Winning"

Aside from massive program crippling NCAA sanctions. There is no way it gets worse than last night's loss

There is no excuse for losing to McDonald State... ZERO...

I find it hard to believe that we can/will win a game this year. Losing at home to an FCS team stinks-but it wasn't just a loss, it was a total beat down. I didn't expect that we would score many point but I sure didn't think we would have 53 hung on us. I tried to think positive during the game. I screamed and supported the team and watched the a** kicking until they scored 50. I couldn't take any more and left. First time ever.

I can kind of understand the offense not scoring an ***-ton of points due to a crappy QB, but how in the fizzuck can our defense give up 53 points (I know 7 came off an INT)... That is the part that tells the story. We suck more than i ever thought was possible

Honestly I can get over getting 50 points hung on us by a FBS sub division team. I can get over the a$$ kicking that we took. I can get over the fact that in Willie T's first game, after months of hype we laid probably the biggest egg I've ever witnessed in my life following sports.

What I can't get over was the severe and total lack of any emotion from our players, and our sideline. Nobody seemed to care, not once did I see any passion or urgency, only blank faces and poor efforts. I saw this same thing unfold over the course of last year, and to be honest I'm not watching anymore of it in person this season. I felt embarrassed to go to school here, and to even be associated with that sort of terrible effort. Get me some players who care, and want to compete. I don't care if we go winless, but that type of effort was outright disgusting, and pitiful. There are people who would give everything to be in a D1 football program, and these players acted like it was a waste of their time.

Bull nation was disrespected last night, by our players, our coaches, and our football program. I will never forget that loss, and it will take years to scrub that stench away. Say what you want about supporting these athletes, but these front runners deserve none of what they have, and what the people in this program sacrificed to build for them. Over the course of the past calendar year these apathetic players have set this program back a decade, they don't deserve to play here, and I am fine if only the freshman play every down the rest of this season.

You can only blame the coaches for so long, and so much. At some point you have to acknowledge that these kids don't care, don't want to be here, and don't want to win. I boood at my team for the first time in my life, and I can honestly say they deserved it and more. I think this program can be fixed, but there is a severe problem with our culture here, and the current players that we have. I will always be a Bull, and I am a believer in coach T, but something has to change, and I think its these athletes.

I am tired of the expectations and the letdowns that we endure year after year. I was at the Clemson game Saturday night. What an atmosphere. What fan support. They have buy-in from the board of trustees all the way down to the freaking janitors. Do we have that? Can we somehow get it? If not- what the heck are we doing? We should not move up to Division 4 if we can't all be on the same page.

TCU gets it. Jerseys. Support. Buy-in from top down.

Ponder this: If OSU had to resort to this to raise the competitiveness of their program, what did Ole Miss, Miss State and Auburn have to do?
I'm willing to accept that desperation and willful misconduct at OSU happened, but their rise was over significant time and was accompanied by a totally legit capital improvement program that was almost unprecedented in major college football history. When you see bottom feeder schools without the building programs suddenly landing top ten recruiting classes with no history of doing so...well, one is drawn to suspect that all is not above board.

We got beat by a team that played Case McCoy at quarterback for an entire half and had Greg Robinson as defensive coordinator. If they cared so much about Mack Brown they wouldn't have stunk up the football field against BYU and Ole Miss. This is not a good Texas team. I don't think they will go to a bowl and I think it is very likely that OSU and Baylor beat them every bit as badly as they are going to beat us. However they are better than we are. What happened to our offensive line? Did they spend the entire summer taking estrogen pills? Going into this year I would have been ecstatic with 9-3, happy with 8-4, satisfied with 7-5, and able to live with 6-6. Now 5-7 looks to be the ceiling.

I guess the silver lining in all of this is that we don't have to worry about teams having the extra motivation of having the chance to knock off a ranked team the rest of the year and I won't have to do any budgeting and finagling to get time off from work to worry about going to a bowl game this year

4. No way to power the ball in from 1/2 yard line....OC Gundy

I've always thought that A&M fans are the most delusional of any fan base... in the history of mankind. Living in the Philly area I've found that Eagles fans are a very close second - only difference being the violent Philly attitude.

That being said, osu fans have to be the biggest collection of morons ever assembled. They're so mind-numbingly stupid that it hurts to read. Trying to comprehend their mindset could keep a psychotherapist in business for years.

UNC football has tried to become big time and came close with Mac Brown. They tried again with Davis but UNC could not stomach having to play the recruiting violations game well like real big time teams do. UNC perhaps should just not pretend to be a football school and act like dook just focusing on BBall and merely fielding a FBall team. UNC can hardly fill half of the stands as it is, so why expand the stadium? I mean, the opening game had less fans than many High School games regardless who they played. Sad. Funny thing is the one time UNC had a chance to win the ACC, they could not due to sanctions. Oh well, BBall season is about to begin and it cannot start soon enough.

I have exchanged 3 emails with AD Hart wherein I expressed my displeasure and concern with the plight of this football team. He has courteously responded that he sees no issues and believes the team is competitive, plays with emotion and is well coached. I understand his need to be politically correct in his responses and I would also respond similarly if I were him; however, I am not sure if he actually believes his responses and/or is being politically diplomatic

The lights have been out for some time now and the party ended last season. Even one win against a terrible team can't revive this program right now. It'd take about four consecutive wins to even get the bulb charged before we could turn the lights back on

Every week I've expected things to be bad and they've been worse.

I'll make a game if I make a game but I'm not going out of my way any longer. If that makes me a bad fan then I'm a bad fan but life is short and I have better things to do with my time then support such a garbage program like the one we've become.

Last year's team didn't lose any game by 53 points. Or 43 points.
Last year's team averaged more than 7 points a game.
Last year's team played in a tougher conference.
Last year's team had fewer embarrassingly awful football teams on the schedule (FIU, FAU, UAB, La Tech).
Last year's team didn't have any stretch in which they were outscored 162-38 and scored only 3 TDs in that stretch.

Hopefully we improve as the year goes along and the schedule will definitely help with that, but as of right now....no, this year's team is worse than last year's. Truth hurts

This thread = loser. Give me a fuqing break. Even with our youth, there is no reason for us to have THE worst defense in D1 football. There is too much talent and athleticism for that to happen. Top 20 state HS teams could score 28 on this team.

Hate to break it to you bud, but we live in a world of bottom lines. Nobody cares if you gave it all you got if you sucked. Do you want an engineer who gives 100% effort and "never quits" but sucks at his job to build your house? Do you want a relentless no quit doctor who failed his board exams to operate on you?

This "haven't seen em quit" mantra gives us a nice fuzzy feeling, but reality is harsh and doesn't seem to take into account how much effort you gave. Let's have some responsibility for god's sake. These guys get full scholarships that many kids dream of, along with all the glory and fame of being on the football team. I'm not very concerned with their sweet little feelings getting hurt because they stunk it up on the field. Teachers don't feel sorry for you and give you a passing grade when you busted your a$$ studying then ended up failing a test.

As for the "recruits visit this board" argument, if I recruit doesn't want to come here because he's scared we're gonna be mean to him on the internet when he stinks it up on the field, then we're going after the wrong recruit. I doubt Myles Garrett is sitting there expecting to stink it up like those fools did on defense today and embarrass our school. Good recruits have the confidence and drive to be the best on the field, not just to "not quit" and stink it up then get a participation trophy and a pat on the back from the internet with a "you'll get em next time, tiger!" reassurance.

Ah the "young" "just wait" and "next year" comments are back. It's been "just wait til next year" for the past 15 years.
Enough waiting. I'm ready for it to be this year. If we just had a crappy defense we could be undefeated. Instead we have a **** pile of a D. If they were "good" enough to only give up 35 a game, this season would be totally different. But they can't even manage that.

I hate to say it but to me it is over. This was the key game. And we failed miserably. Now we can't win a national championship, we can't win the conference or even the division. What's left? We will win at least most if the rest by default and goto a decent bowl but that's it. To me that's a disappointment after such lofty and grand ambitions. There is only some respect to keep playing for. So yeah, it's over. Maybe next year will be different. But I doubt it. All I know is, I'm pulling for everyone against fsu. I enjoyed being ranked third for a while but now, it's back to average at least for a while. It looks to me like the program has made good strides but the mentality still has not really changed, at least not enough.

I was curious how the TT fans would react. I was thinking that the TT fans are really going to like Kingsbury going forward unless this season turns out to be a fluke. I notice there was nothing directed at the coaches. Of course, it's hard to gauge a fan base from a few loud flamers. I understand fans being mad about that offensive PI call - that was a real head scratcher. But if 1 bad call in the first half of a game is what causes a team to loose, that fan base better get prepared for more losses. Other than that call, seemed like a normal day for the refs to me.

I am of the opinion that people often look bad when they complain. Teams also look bad when they lose. Combine fans complaining with the team losing and you have an ugly Internet message board experience.

In dishonor of Baylor...

They are a losing football team. They might be undefeated in 2013, but they are historically, in the Big 12 and beyond, a loser. It's not just football, it's everything. Losers, the lot of them.

And we need to make them all remember that in order to win next week, so I'm going to do my part by digging through the SF.com meltdown archives and remembering how awful Baylor (fans on the Internet) has been in the past post-loss.

With these daily (or more often) reminders of the losing losers that they are, they will go into Thursday feeling defeated and then deliver themselves a defeat for reals.

Note: During the second half a little kid ran onto the court as Baylor was dribbling it to the other side (not a fast break, just after turnover or OU made shot, don't remember which) with his daddy running right behind him. The ref immediately whistled the ball dead so that the little kid wouldn't get hurt. It was possibly the cutest moment of the season and they even let him back on court during a timeout to shoot on a fisher price goal. :)

e will play amazing offense for 3 quarters and then all the sudden it's like Briles looks up at the scoreboard, realizes we are up by two possessions or more and says "Oh crap, we need to play conservatively and milk the game away!" Since when has that been our offensive identity? It's NOT. We are team that thrives off of our fast-paced game, and when we try to milk the game, we take ourselves out of it.

How bout when will Briles or any other BU coach in history learn that SPECIAL TEAMS MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear we must NEVER plan or practice anything that has to do with kick-offs, FGs, or punts. 14 yard punts, catching a kick-off while running out of bounds, blown coverage more times than we can count, the list goes on.

I'm worried Griffin is smoke and mirrors for this staff and once he is gone we are right back to 2007/2008/2009.

EVERYONE knows our D and special teams are just this side of useless half the time. Well, everyone except for maybe Briles.

"Losing by 1 on the road to an undefeated Big 12 team isn't that bad." This statement says it all. That's how a losing football program thinks. Yes, actually it IS that bad. In fact, it's absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I don't care that KSU was undefeated...they were not a great team. We made stupid mistakes, turned the ball over four effing times, and began the fourth quarter playing "not to lose" instead of nailing the coffin shut. Unacceptable loss.

If we beat tamu then I'll be just fine. I want those peckerheads to leave the big 12 knowing that they were never the best team in Texas. I want to send them home with a loss that stings more than the past 2 weeks combined. I don't even want to run the score up, I want us to kick a field goal as the clock winds down to 0 and I want it on ESPN repeatedly.

edit: Not at all saying we'll have the chance to do any of those things, but I'll be completely okay with the K-State loss if we can pull one out in CStat.

We are a mediocre team with no margin for error. At the end of the season, I expect the record to reflect that.

I spent lunch keeping up with the first half of the game while eating at Pei Wei. Soon after, the wife and I both started feeling kind of sick to our stomachs. Well, really just a bit lower if you get my drift. I wound up blowing up four toilets in roughly an hour and a half (Best Buy, Michael's, a Velero convenience store, and a Stripes). I think my wife took out the women's stall at Michael's). Meanwhile, the wind up there had started blowing 50 miles an hour, making walking across the parking lots to these fine establishments difficult at best. One of those days where you need goggles if you're outside- otherwise, it's like getting sand thrown in your face at the beach.

In retrospect, my afternoon was still better than keeping up with the second half of that $#@!show in DKR.

Some of you young whippersnappers have no idea what a losing season at WVU is like, and to what lengths desperate fans may reach to entertain themselves, when the antics on the field fill fans with disgust and animosity. Those of us who survived the Cignetti years, otherwise known as the Dark Ages, have a few pointers for younger fans who have never had to endure entire seasons of mediocrity.
(1) The $4.00 cokes come in paper cups, which can be crumpled up and thrown at other fans. This activity is not designed to start fights, and should be enjoyed by everyone beginning to throw their cups at no one in particular when the follies on the field are no longer bearable. This long-outlawed practice is known, simply enough, as a cup battle.
(2) Hand held games are great for long afternoons of gridiron futility. A blanket can be placed over your head and your opponent's head, to shield the screen from the sun.
(3) Speaking of covering up, a blanket can have other uses, as well. If it's time to take your relationship with that special someone to the next level- well, you get the idea.
(4) Finally, a few of our cheers are going to have to change. One side of the stadium will now shout, "Let's Go!" and the other will respond, "Drink some beer!" Another familiar theme will be agonized fans shouting "Pray for halftime!"
(5) Finally, regarding prayer, many will want to seek divine assistance for their struggling team. Many may want to appeal for the intervention of the patron saint of mediocrity, Antonio Salieri. Note in the final scenes of the film "Amadeus" how he absolves the mediocre of their mediocrity. Look closely, and you'll see some of the Mountaineer offensive linemen among those being absolved.

Threads are like parties. Some are a great time filled with laughs and fun. Heck, in typical WVU party fashion, we have even had a female Texas fan disrobe (albeit only partially) in a thread. Like all parties, great threads can be ruined by one guy who either gets the cops called or gets drunk and hurts himself or continuously talks about dead people. Stop being that guy

How could anybody sensibly think that we could just move up to better, more competitive conference with deeply talented teams, who have been getting much bigger conference payouts and have rich boosters and just roll up and be a conference champ contender every year with our inexperienced head coach who's learning on the job?

It's ludicrous. It's insane. You're setting yourselves up for disappointment.

Yes, we're perfectly capable of hanging with almost every team in our conference but not week in and week out. We realistically don't have the depth yet and haven't had the time to get there yet. Our guys are still excited to play big boy teams like Texas and Oklahoma (who aren't even at the top of their game this season). We've gotten by a lot on excitement. We need more depth and more talent, which will come.

You can't become a constant threat and contender in a power conference over-night after moving up.

Look at it this way- our former conference (now the AAC) is basically division 1.5. It's almost like moving from D2 up to D1. You're gonna take some lumps while the team grows and becomes more talented. You have to expect some losses guys.

That's reality. Now if in 5 years we're not showing some sort of improvement I'll be worried.

Actually scratch that. If we can field a team that can compete for the championship every 5 years or so- I'm cool with that. Kind of like the old school big east days.

Suck it up or leave. I don't care. I'll still be wearing my gold and blue and rocking my flying WVs whether we're 0-12 or 13-0.

I don't know... but I look at our recruiting and I am very happy. Look at our future and realize that this is a BIG first step into our new conference. Look at our old rival suffering. We are in great hands with Sumlin and stand to get better with him. We have every SEC team fearing us and preparing extra for us each week. We have made a statement in our first two years in the SEC and all of this whiny s**t needs to stop. Remember that we are playing a team that has played for a national championship four times in the last 12 years!

Baylor’s national championship hopes were crushed last Saturday when they were dominated on the road at Oklahoma State, and running back Shock Linwood has not handled the loss too well according to the Dallas Morning News.

“The way it’s gone for me, I haven’t had much sleep,” Linwood said. “I was up late last night thinking about the game until 3 or 4 in the morning. I went outside a couple times. I was hot, and it was cool last night and raining.”

There is still a lot for Baylor to play for, but Linwood, who fumbled twice in the 49-17 loss, is having a hard time getting focused on Saturday’s game with TCU.

“I just have to let it go, get on with TCU,” he said. “I do not know [how] yet. I haven’t been in a predicament like this before.”

The moron is Ryan Erxleben from Lake Travis HS, his father is Texas-Ex kicker Russell Exrleben (NCAA DI-A record holder with a 67 yd field goal) who was a first round draft pick of the Saints. Having grown up in Austin and a the son of an ex-Whorn kicker I would imagine he caught a lot of grief going to Tech even if he didn't get an offer from UT. It was his only touchdown of his kicking career, I give him a break for doing that in Austin, elsewhere not so much.

I would just like to clarify that I am sure he is a very nice boy who just experienced the highlight of a lifetime, but given the final outcome of the game, lol at shushing the Austin crowd. It was a very Tech moment, if you know what I mean. I remember when refs had to step between their guys and us before the infamous 2008 Norman game. The halftime score was so embarrassing that when refs tried to stop Techers from crossing paths with us en route to the lockerroom, the one they called "Mankind" just shoved the ref away. :D
