Hey all. I'm looking to buy a side of beef. Every place I've called either has a long wait or doesn't sell it by the side. Any ideas who I could call? I have the freezer empty, clean and ready to fill.

Have you considered hookers?

Try Larry's meat market in Union City.

Ralph's in Perkins might be able to help. And is well worth the trip just for their bacon, anyway.

What's the pricing like? I paid $1250 and I think I brought home about 250 lbs. of meat. All was vacuum packed and labeled. We got (79) 1.5 lb. packs of HB meat, approx. 15 roasts and lots of t-bones, sirloins, ribeyes etc. Haven't eaten any yet but I'll let you know.

Don't know where you live and I know you got your order, you might try

Cossey's Custom Cut Meats
226 N Mustang Rd Mustang, OK 73064
(405) 256-0101

next time... They have good product and are very knowledgeable about beef, ect. My wife when in Yukon has been going there for several years and usully picks up stuff to freeze and bring home to Houston.

5 bucks a LB ? Is that good?

I got a half earlier in the summer that came in at $2.75/lb.

Caveat: I am counting in that feed that I bought for the rancher over last winter and he's a personal friend so the deal was probably biased in my favor. I paid for the animal, but it was likely below market. The only 'commercial' part was the slaughter and butchering.

Take that, Vet, as some sort of price indication. $5/lb is what a big local ranching operation is charging if you go in and don't want to wait while your steer is fed out.

Yeah, and I had an option, so I took it. But if you're pressed for time, if you don't have some buddy who can shoot you a deal, if it's the wrong time of year...you might have to pay that. If it's good beef, cut well and well trimmed, it's stil going to be good beef.

I thought $5 was fair since about the only meat you can get under $5 is hamburger. Look at it this way...........we got over 30 ribeyes and t-bones cut 1" thick for $5 per pound.

Exactly. If the quality is good, it's not a bad deal.

I aint sayin it was a bad deal. Just surprised me it was that high. Course i remember when Ground beef was 39 cent a lb also.
