It has been 10 years since I have been waiting on this sort of word...

We know we offered the right amount and we met the current homeowners. They're hillbillies from VA and they seem like good people. tick tick tick...
The taxes on the place floor me, but it is a home where I can see myself for the next 15-20 yrs...

Congrats....

After having looked at what things go for in Boston it made Austin look downright cheap, the taxes in Texas are still ridiculous. When we moved from Austin to Denver our house was double in value and taxes a third of what they were in Austin.

I looked at that ZIP on Zillow to check out taxes. Ouch!.

Conservatively, about triple that of OK, but its all relative. Values much higher too.

Seem to be fewer weeds there, too.

THAT'S what is important.

Very nice looking home. I really like the trees/bushes around the house. The whole thing feels "comfortable".

No congrats, yet we should find out today or tomorrow if the offer is taken. The owners seem like they are ready to go. Unfortunately, there's a relo company in the mix...

Our tax rates are some of the highest in the country.

nice lookin house...

GF has 95 acres and in 10 yrs, going to take half of my KPERS out and we will build a nice house...thinking log cabin/modern house combo. Course that is the PLAN..but who knows. I like older looking homes...

East. You getting feng shui on me?

No not that. I was thinking west sun with all those windows could be a problem. Facing east is probably good.

In some parts of the country west facing windows would be considered a bonus....of course not anywhere in the south.

Well, much transpired since the last post. Someone came in and offered cash. I believe for more, but whatevs. We thought we had lost it, now we have it because that deal fell through. Roller coaster this life. Funny thing is, I felt like it was kismet with this house, sorta like the one we have now, it just worked out... :D

Of course, the address is 24 Bradford, which was a sign to me automatically...
24 = Joe Washington, my fave Sooner and well, Bradford needs little explaining.
We start the next round of paperwork on Sunday. My slow work time just got crazy. Now we have to get this house ready to sell!

Inspection is tomorrow. We're excited, but putting our house on the market is a chore and a half. Too much chit with the little critters here. Plus, we need to do a little cosmetic work to the outside and that has to happen pronto before the weather gets nasty. Gonna miss our place- proposed to the Mrs here, brought two kids & a pooch home ...

We close on the new place this Fri.
Close on the old place two weeks later. Now I just have to fix the piddly **** that the inspector found. Not happy with the price we settled on with our current house, the wife just wanted to be done with it. I wanted to hold out for a better buyer. Sucks, but move on...
