I have been a Williams fan since I saw him on Happy Days back in the 70's. I love his standup and any role where ihe is allowed to improv. While I didn't care for GOOD MORNING VIET NAM as a movie but Williams was soooooo funny. The other day I watched a couple of hours of him on youtube and was ROTFLMAO even though I had seen or heard much of the material before. Robin is THE MASTER of improv. There a lot of comics that can be funny with preoared material but NOBODY approaches RW in improv.

There is nothing funny about Robin Williams. Maybe you are thinking of Richard Pryor.

If you'd ever seen him with Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg, you wouldn't
say that. Richard Pryor was funny but Williams could take any subject and
do five hilarious minutes, at the drop of a hat....

Richard Pryor isn't on the face of the planet anymore..But I don't think Robin Williams is that funny..Good for a chuckle but not much else for me.

He did, and his character was so popular they decided to give him a series.

I question if you have a sense of humor at all if you don't think he is funny. I would agree that he is not funny in many of his movies but his standup is beyond comoare, even his talkshow appearences.

This was late '70's...funny stuff....rumor was that 75% of the time
Williams was adlibbing and driving his castmates nuts...

His last stand-up put me to sleep. I think his talk show stuff is his best.

STEP, yer right on...I've seen him on Leno, Letterman, GMA, Oprah and
two or three others...somebody gives him a cue and he is off and running...
If anyone judges him by his scripted movies, that's too bad. He is an improv
genius...some of his stand up is good, too, imo...

His standup bit about the origins of golf is hilarious. The rest is hit and miss.

I thought he was hilarious back in the 70s when I was around 12 years old. Almost all of his movies suck.
