I can't tell if this guy has actually been seen on campus yet or not? Some say he's in and it is a done deal.
Is that true? Has he actually shown up for a practice yet or even been seen on campus?

I think a good nickname for Quincy would be "The Messiah", because so many folks are seeking him...

I heard he was on campus in the company of a sasquatch!

...but I also heard chupacabra, so shows you how unreliable these reports are.

Thanks everyone. :highly_amused:

At this point I'm convinced he almost might not ever show up one day.

NORMAN — At long last, junior-college defensive tackle signee Quincy Russell arrived at Oklahoma on Wednesday afternoon, according to a post on his Facebook account.

Russell (6-foot-3, 311 pounds) signed with the Sooners in December out of Trinity Valley Community College, but his arrival was delayed as he finished up classes to secure his academic eligibility.

He’s a couple weeks late to fall training camp, but Russell will certainly be welcomed into the fold on a defensive line lacking in experience.

The San Antonio native originally signed with Texas out of high school, but was forced to take the junior-college route because of academic issues.

Offensive tackle Josiah St. John, one of Russell’s Trinity Valley teammates, also signed with OU and joined the team just before fall camp began.

“He’s a monster … a complete animal,” St. John said in February. “He’s big, fast, strong.

“I’m pretty sure he’s gonna make a big impact.”

Where can we find this facebook post??

Maybe he means he's going to treat opposing offenses like they were in a South Georgia chain gang.

It's a stretch, but we can hope.

So... has anyone seen him in practice or did he just get there last night?

6'3" and 313 pounds... should be a pretty imposing force.

Maybe we could call him the Medical Examiner

Heh. I like it! Opens up to all sorts of parallels between the ME's job and the state of their subjects after they're done.

He'd damn well better be "Money".

Instead of the Medical Examiner, let's just stick with good, old siimple and evocative 'The Coroner'.

Yes, yes, it's far too early. But I've been these seven months without OU football! Throw me a freaking bone!!

Has anyone actually confirmed seeing him on campus?? Or are we just relying on his Facebot?

Unfortunately, we've had a number of guys who look the part in recent years. They just couldn't play very well. Hopefully Russell is the real deal.

I think we all (well, maybe just the reasonable fans) feel the same way. There's a lot of hype surrounding this kid, and we've witnessed plenty of hyped kids come in and be average. I'm still cautiously optimistic, but he'll have to play as advertised, or he'll be just another Mo Dampeer.
