I've repeated this to NP a lot whenever Texas' recent mediocrity comes up: Not having their quarterbacks pan out set them back 3-4 years.

If 5-star top QB prospect Garrett Gilbert pans out as another Vince Young, Colt McCoy, Major Applewhite, or even Chrissy Sims, they continue to be in the national title hunt, possibly beat us a few times in RRS, etc.

Think about how Texas will be this year is a lot like bungee jumping.

I know that Texas is overrated most every year, but I don't want to think it.

Bob Stoops has owned Texas and Mack Brown. The last two years were a joke, and OU looked light years ahead of Texas. But, for some reason (maybe all the media hype), I always think this could be the year that Texas finally shows up. Maybe because it is a heated rivalry, and you never know in those kinds of games. Maybe it's the talent that does exist on the roster, and they do have some really good talent. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm always reluctant to believe they will be terrible, even though I should know better.
