Texas QB Brewer transferring to Arizona

The Associated Press

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Former Texas quarterback Connor Brewer is headed to Arizona.

Brewer announced on Twitter Monday night that he is transferring from Texas to Arizona. He will be eligible in 2014.

Brewer was one of the nation's highest-rated quarterbacks in 2012 after leading Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., to three straight state titles and tossing a state-record 100 touchdown passes. He had offers from numerous programs, including Alabama, USC and Notre Dame, before deciding to play at Texas.

Brewer was a redshirt freshman for the Longhorns last season before deciding to transfer.

He had already announced he was transferring. This is just the announcement of where. Nice pick up for Coach Rodriguez.

p.s. - quarterback is the position that ends up with the most transfers. The big colleges almost always end up with too many quality QB's and not enough playing time and they are routinely transferring. This guy sees Ash playing two more years and he will be left with only one year to play. He hit the road. It's happened here and it has happened at Alabama and it has happened at numerous other places. Doesn't have much to do with the family atmosphere.

Mack's loyal to QBs almost to a fault. He once put Chance Mock ahead of Vince Young, Chrissy Sims ahead of Major Applewhite... the list goes on.
