A few years ago, an Apple app allowed unsuspecting kids to buy bushels and wheelbarrows full of Smurf Berries (with mommy and daddy's real money), because they thought they were being smart and found a faster way to play a Smurf game.
There were many other cases of this, but the Smurf Berries was the most infamous one, since the game was obviously for children (being Smurfs and all) but exploited and tricked kids into using real money to play faster (Apple didn't require parents to sign in in order make in-game purchases)
Fast forward to now: Apple is settling your Smurf Berry debt and other kiddo App purchases (http://www.cultofmac.com/233013/if-your-kids-racked-up-a-huge-bill-in-in-app-purchases-apple-is-ready-to-make-amends/).
Long post short, click here to get a free iTunes gift card (https://www.itunesinapppurchasesettlement.com/CAClaimForms/AIL/Landing.aspx).
Or, if you're entitled to a bigger refund (it can also be in cash if you no longer use iTunes), that's the place to get the ball rolling.
More details here (via MacWorld). (http://www.macworld.com/article/2042807/apple-in-app-purchase-settlements-now-available-for-claiming.html) However, it's pretty simple to just get the $5. All you have to do is declare that you let a minor make an Apple App purchase
