Texas teen impaled on horn of bull statue

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — A 14-year-old West Texas boy is dead after he ran into a bull statue on the Texas Tech University campus and impaled himself on one of its horns.

University spokesman Chris Cook says Miguel Martinez impaled himself while playing hide-and-seek with friends in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday morning.

Campus police say Martinez was at the museum with two adults and two minors when police were called to the scene. Police say Martinez was running on the National Ranching Heritage Museum on the Texas Tech campus when the horn pierced his chest.

I was driving by the mall yesterday in Frisco and they have a bull exactly like that one. I think it may be cast from the same mold. I'll have to be sure to tell my kids not to go playing around those bulls in the middle of the night.

Didn't you see that they were playing hide-n-seek? You know, "there's the police - drop that stuff and, HIDE!" At the speeds 14 year olds hide under those circumstances, its understandable.

Still, pretty bad thing to happen to anyone. The truth is he should not have been out there in the first place at 0300.

There is a Longhorn statute in Dodge City (El Capitan), however, "El Capitan" is no longer a steer (just like Bevo) after his genitals were removed following the publication of a lewd picture of some woman doing something with said former genitals.
