Rubio's Name Draws Boos Over Immigration Plan
Wednesday, 19 Jun 2013 10:34 PM
By Matthew Auerbach

The support Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., thought he could count on from members of his own party regarding his bipartisan immigration bill is fast evaporating, as is his standing with conservative voters, The Hill reports.

At a Capitol Hill rally Wednesday, conservative and tea party activists tore into Rubio, booing him every time his name was mentioned during the six-hour event.

The rally was held, in large part, to voice displeasure over the legislation’s aim to create a path to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants.

The event mirrored the growing opposition to the bill among grassroots conservatives and Republican senators, the latter becoming more and more dissatisfied with what is seen as a lack of substantial efforts regarding border security and enforcement.

Rubio, who is considered one of the GOP’s rising young stars, is thought to be key to passing the bill.

Sens. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Rand Paul, R-Ky., and John Cornyn, R-Texas, all thought to be leaning towards supporting the legislation, are now expected to reject it.

Too bad they didn't mention McCain, Flake and Graham...they're worse than Rubio.

Just points out how much McConnell, Paul and Cornyn listen
to boo birds and go in whichever direction the boos point.
McConnell, especially, is vulnerable for 2014.

Yep, really don't understand the waffling. These guys know whether or not this is a bad bill but they are politicians.

False.

Approval rating at 44% disapproval at 47% and dead even with
Grimes at 45%...how is that not vulnerable?
