This year, OU is getting no love from the media. No real Heisman-hype, not particularly a pick to win the conference, and absolutely nobody picking them to win it all. I love it!

They are similar to two past MNC Champs- 2000 OU and 2010 Auburn. They are like 2000 OU in that nobody, including most Sooner fans, thought that they had a chance to even win the conference (UTerus, KSTATE, and Nebraska were all higher ranked). Also, they had that tough three game stretch (UTerus, KSTATE, Nebraska) and two late season road tests (A&M and OSU). This year's team has many of those same challenges.

They are even more like 2010 Auburn in that they have a big, athletic 6'6", 250 lb+ QB, Jr. QB who has/had the potential to be special and a big, veteran OL. Furthermore, they were anchored by two massive DTs (Fairley and Blanc), which if/when Russell gets here, we would also have. Finally, the common point is Coach Boulware. They had solid STs (see Coach Boulware's comments about Hunnicutt and the return men), and they incorporated the TE (Lutzenkirchen) into the offense that year (see Coach Boulware's comment on incorporating Green, McNamara, and Grant).

Yeah, I was in Miami, OK, last month dodging tornadoes, now I am here dodging wildfires. It is about 8 miles from my house, but the smoke is awful. Luckily, it is 65% contained.
