I'm a huge Urlacher fan, but Tommy McDonald should win this vote. The main reason he might not is because people here kind of forget about him due to how long ago he played.

I don't think there's any stop-measure in place to prevent repeat voting :)

I don't think there's any stop-measure in place to prevent repeat voting :)Tommy should have gotten the Heisman in 1956, instead of the guy from domer. His OU team beat the domer 40-0, and at South Bend.

Just a FYI

Thomas Franklin McDonald (born July 26, 1934) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League.

McDonald attended Roy High School in Roy, New Mexico, his freshman year, then moved to Albuquerque, where he graduated from Highland High School.

He excelled as a running back at the University of Oklahoma, where he was coached by the renowned Bud Wilkinson and never played in a losing game. He received the Maxwell Award in 1956 and was an All-American in 1955 and 1956.

McDonald was drafted in the third round of the 1957 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. Over his 12-year career as a wide receiver, he helped lead the Eagles to a 1960 NFL Championship, was selected for six Pro Bowls, led the league in touchdown receptions twice (1958, 1960), and led the NFL in receiving yards once (1960). He also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, and Cleveland Browns. McDonald was the last non-kicker to play in the NFL without a facemask.[1]

McDonald retired after the 1968 season with 495 receptions for 8,410 yards and 84 touchdowns, the second highest total of touchdown receptions in NFL history at the time. He also rushed for 22 yards and gained 1,459 yards and a touchdown returning punts and kickoffs on special teams, giving him 9,891 career all-purpose yards. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998.

McDonald also dabbles in art. His portrait of Joe DiMaggio sold at auction for $4,000.[2]

Which means he has made more money from his paintings than Vincent van Gogh.

McDonald is also credited with planting the germ of the "hurry up" offense with Bud Wilkinson, much to the ire of his teammates. Wilkinson noticed in practice that McDonald would jump up & run back to the huddle, vs. stolling like most players. He broke down the seconds he saved & calculated that if everybody did this, then OU could squeeze in at least a dozen more plays (or thereabouts) in a game.

John Bell (Enid, OK), who played with McDonald and also never played in a losing game at OU, tells an interesting story about McDonald. Apparently he was kinda a showboater, & Jimmy Harris was the QB, who was a hoss of a man anyway, & wasn't too star struck by McDonald's antics. Anyway, in one game, apparently McDonald needed about 6-8 yards to obtain some kind of passing record. In those days, the QB was the main playcaller (not from sidelines), and McDonald kept whining in the huddle that he needed those yards. Harris would nod & then politely run the ball, hand it off or pass it to someone else. Then they'd rehuddle, & Harris would just grin when McDonald whined more. Finally, Wilkinson sent in a play that was designed for (either that or had a sideline conference with Harris....story gets a little fuzzy here) McDonald & he got his yards & the record. Harris thought the whole thing funny that he kept stringing McDonald along.

Johnny Tapia has a following who is trying to win it for him now, it seems. He is getting very close to McDonald in the voting.
