The Baseball tournament has changed its fomat because of the storm

It is going to start on Thursday and be a pool play tournament again, which sucks. I am for doing whatever needs to be done to help the people get through this horrible tragedy, but I am not sure how making it a pool play tournament, and starting it a day later helps? Maybe I am an idiot and don't get it. How does playing a pool play tournament make it easier on the citizens of OKC?

Its probably a day later just to let things calm down a little more. With one less day to play, they couldn't still do double elimination as it would be even more taxing on some teams pitching staffs. This way, every team plays (only) once a day, and for 3 days, with the Championship game on the 4th day, Sunday. Attendance will likely be horrible though.

I would doubt it. Their play on the field will impact their chances more than anything. Based on the last month or so, winning 1 out of 3 won't cut it and unless something changes, that's probably what we can expect.

Pool play does absolutely suck. Worst format ever and it almost ruined the Big 12 tourney. The committee does not like the pool play formula. It has never helped OU to win games in the pool play tournament. That is why they changed it back.

The visiting team is in the 1st base dugout, and the home team is in the 3rd base dugout. I saw later that on day 1, seeds 1-4 were the home team and on day 2, seeds 5-8 were the home team. Day 3 was going to be a coin flip to determine the home team. Now I just need to figure out what OU is on Saturday so I will know what section(s) to buy my ticket.

OSU ended up losing to fall to 0-2 in the other bracket (from OU's). Winner of OU/KSt is the Pool 1 winner and plays the championship game on Sunday against the Pool 2 winner.

The Pool 2 winner can be Kansas (2-0) or W. Va. (1-1), or TCU (1-1). It won't be determined until the last game between KSt vs. TCU though W.Va. can stay alive earlier if they beat OSU.

I'm not pulling for or against either one. We can beat them both IF we cut down on dumb base running mistakes like today, like one guy got picked off 2nd. Another time an OU runner was on second and the batter hit a sharp grounder to shortstop and the runner got tagged out trying to take 3rd base. You never run on contact if the ball is hit in front of you. You hold up to see if it gets through the infield.
