CBS Dallas reporting 60 dead over 140 injured. That sounds early to say, but there were apparently many first responders that went to the area while it was just a fire then it just exploded.

No kiddin'. That guys Son will never forget that. He sounded like he never wanted to see another fertilizer plant on fire again and he made that decision up in about 2 seconds.

New regulations are needed for the fertilizer industry.

That's in West not Waco.

Other than a tragic lack of kolaches in Waco, how does one tell the difference?

As tragic as this is, we can all be thankful the Czech Stop is still fully in business!

West isn't considered a suburb. The northernmost suburb would be Lacy Lakeview....possibly Elm Mott but anything outside of that is beyond what you could call Waco.

Nope. No relatives. I'm from Oklahoma not Texas as is the rest of my family. However, I do have friends from West but they're all fine. Bunch of people I know felt the blast quite easily in Waco.

I think there is a new standard for how close a residential area can be to a fertilizer plant.

Fyi - Sooner Kolbey Carpenter (baseball) is from West, Texas and reportedly returned home to check on friends and family (http://www.tulsaworld.com/article.aspx/OU_baseball_player_returns_home_to_West_Texas/20130418_92_0_NORMAN353766?subj=92). (Via Tulsa World)

Carpenter’s immediate family, who live just outside of town, is safe, but the freshman first baseman’s best friend lost his father in the accident. Carpenter is back in West with family and friends.

Why would ANYONE want to reside anywhere near a Fertilizer plant? I feel bad for those people as I have always stopped there for Kolaches.

My wife's family is Czech, and bristle when they see those kind of kolaches.

Kolache festival in Prague OK is 2 weeks from today. Lots of the real deal there, especially the ones from the Catholic Church.
