Bell looks solid. Thompson has good feet, good mobility, but his release looked very slow, and the couple of throws fairly weak.

Here comes Knight.

Dang, Bell hit McNamara in stride over the middle with a beautiful big time throw, right in the hands, perfect. McNamara dropped it.

Looks like a good TE if he can catch the ball.

Get used to it. Lot of people around here are going to miss Landrys deep ball.

Good job by Bell extending the play, but dangerous... And its bothersome that we still cant run the ball with a running back for 5 yds.

So true

Either the D-line is improved, or the O-line still can't get the short yards in the red zone.

Sometimes it looks like some linebackers are making some stops, which is a positive.

Bell looks much more in control to me. Knight has some potential, but on the longer throws you can now see what a good arm Landry had.

Fraggle145
4/13/2013, 02:49 PM
And its vanilla on vanilla. Hard to tell a lot of things.

Man when Bell stands up there behind the OL you can really tell that he is a big dude.

Thompson looks like he is putting the ball where it needs to go, it just seems to take a long time to get there... Bell has looked the best. But it could just be that he's taken live snaps before.

Who is this Terrance Olds guy?

He must be this year's Whaley. Think they said he was a junior.

Sam Grant, the redshirt TE can catch the ball, but looks pretty skinny. He's actually been lining up more as a receiver.

4/13/2013, 03:39 PM
Thompson seems to have a little bit of Little Joe in him. Just the way he jukes and moves.

I like the new look of our vanilla offense. Especially if we keep this sort of run/pass ratio. I like the new increased frequency with which we are running the ball.

Very good TD throw by Knight. The WR was Don Caudill, a senior. Good to see a guy that has stuck it out make a big play.

Although I wont be surprised with whoever is named #2 getting an occasional series as a change of pace type thing. Especially early in the season.

be an interesting fall...

He could give Kerry Collins Hitch lessons at this point. Hopefully he gets it cleaned up a bit.

Metoyer is definitely Knight's guy.

I could be wrong, but I'm betting that had more to do with the matchup. The guy who was on him most of the day is a 5'10" walk-on.

Thompson started slow, But looked dayum good the 2nd 1/2. My opinion the startin job is Prolly Bells but He best look sharp or Kendal Will be pushin hard

I think Bell will be the starter but overall thought Knight looked like the best one on the field, just doesn't have the experience.

Just started watching the game. I'm not optimistic about the announcer. He just referred to Brendan Clay. Sigh.

frequency we run the ball over the years, is mostly conditioned on we think we can and do block (much less of the time).... against a real front 7.

at least Landry made a real front 7 think a bit. we haven't run the ball with authority since Allen Patrick.

1. I liked seeing those beautiful unis and helmets again. 2. I liked the old school helmet logo at midfield. 3. I have no idea if we played good or not.

I thought the whole thing was better than I expected. All three QBs did well. Bet Bell is the man for this year.

Between Thompson and Knight, I think Knight looks like he will be very good. Good balance of mobility and accuracy. Couple of throws showed some good arm. If Thompson progresses, he may be right there with him.

The offense should be okay next year. Trevor Knight looks like a young JW out there (gambling + runs).

The defense though. Holy crap.

This is from Corey Nelson.

On if he thinks the linebackers looked good:
"The linebacking corps...we looked fantastic today. There were a lot of good things out there. Coach Kish agreed, and he said that there were a lot of good things that the linebackers did. We just executed. That's what we went out there and did - we executed well. We had no mental errors, no bad mishaps."

I'm not really sure how, but this group at this point isn't as good as it was last year. Even on plays where they could drop the other guy for a 4 yard loss, they hesitate and let them get 3-4 yards. Teams are just going to GOUGE us up the middle.

Nelson - still magnetically attracted to blockers, still hesitant to fill the hole, still gets caught up in the wash, makes plays about 20% of the time.
Shannon - has become magnetically attracted to blockers and hesistant. Going side to side, he ends up way too far behind the LOS (on one play 10 yards).
Franklin - really small, very aggressive, takes really poor angles, step slow. Looked like the best one out there but I just think he gets abused in a game.

Ahhh, I was afraid this would be your analysis.
One of the things I was looking forward to was seeing how improved we were on D and upon leaving the game yesterday I have to admit I felt a little unsettled about the whole situation.

Some of the holes the O opened up were almost hash mark to hash mark. I'm not even kidding when I say those will be the largest holes our O opens up ALL YEAR LONG.
