We should learn a lot and get a much better feel for this team after this weekend in California. Good competition for the young team, good chance to see how they perform against quality teams. Sunny keeps talking about starting 4 freshman and this weekend will provide a chance for them to grow with a two true road games now that they've moved the games from Dodger Stadium. Should be a fun baseball weekend.

Hopefully, we make a comeback in the next couple of innings. Our ability to hit on the road is going to be a huge test for this team the whole year. Right now it is 4-3 SC in the bottom of the 7th.

Final SC 5-3

Overton gives up 13 hits and Mayfield has two more errors. I am not sure he is the answer at SS. Two bad loses in a row. We need to bounce back real quick.

Final OU 4-0

Nice win against a talented team. Still didn't hit the ball well overall, but got the one big hit, which counts the most. It would be great to see them come out tomorrow and put up double digit hits and runs against ND's third starter. If we can get a win then it will have been a good week on the road, even though we lost to two teams we should have beat.

Tough loss. Hopefully, this week will prepare us mentally for the Big 12. If we are going to win the conference, our star pitchers are going to have to step it up, and we are going to have to get a lot better at hitting with 2 outs.

I hope OU comes to play against NMSU tonight and tomorrow. Aggie coach Rocky Ward isn't as toxic as his dad was, but their fan base is only slightly more tolerable than OSU's is. And, it'll be big news in the media out here if they beat us, even though Las Cruces is over 200 miles from the media center of the state (Albuquerque).

Yardbirds were on Gary last night, don't think he liked it too well. He was visible in the NMS dugout for the first couple of innings and looked up at us a couple of times, then he repositioned where we couldn't see him.

I thought Gary wasn't involved with the program at NMSU anymore. He's not listed in their media guide as being one of the coaches. Gary is a graduate of New Mexico State, even though he is an Oklahoma native.

He was visable in the dugout and seeing him in the dugout, no matter what his role, is enough for the 'Birds :emmersed:

I love it that Gary got heckled. I'm only surprised he didn't try to get the 'Birds removed from the stadium. In Albuquerque, it would probably work, since UNM plays at a PCL park and their staff hates having to share "their" ballpark (built on UNM land originally, but they don't know that, or care) and has an attitude.

Either way, I'm glad OU swept them, even more than people might realize. And I also love it that they lost in walk-off fashion. Bet that really stuck in Gary's craw.
