I wasn't sure where to put this....

I'm sure some don't GAS about the other sports but the whole athletic program is doing well...

softball #1 15-0 (have beat 7 ranked teams)
baseball #15 ( I think) 6-0
gymnastics girls #2 15-0
gymnastics men #3 11-1
men's tennis #8 7-2
mens track/field #21
womens golf #2

football finished #11
men's bball not ranked yet, but doing much better
women's bball was ranked but is right out of the top 25

impressive...

Very impressive! I've never been much of a softball fan, but its hard not to get excited when OU dominates like this in any sport.

Kendric Maple could be an NCAA champ in wrestling, and he has some decent teammates as the program builds back up.

yea they were ranked #25 but lost 2 matches to higher ranked teams so I'm pretty sure they'll drop..but wrestling does it different, a loss isn't a huge drop usually.

The good thing about softball is we have 2 Sr stud pitchers...usually a softball pitcher goes most of the season (sure you know that)..so that is huge. The team has outscored folks like 42-0 at one stretch..we have like 9 or 10 shutouts, against some against ranked teams.

You may get to add Men's hoops to that list Monday.

Wrestling is taking a big hit this year, partly because there are three likely starters who are sitting out this year. With the NCAA tournament in OKC next year, we should be in the top five. Looking forward to it.

If Maple wins a championship, it's likely the team will finish in the top 20 this year.

Baseball just won again in Corpus. 9-0 on the year.

It's great when the other sports do well....

.......because it might help football recruiting.

For me, if they do well they extend their seasons which in turn kills more of the time between baseball/softball/basketball and football in the fall.

I couldn't agree with this any more.

grew up on OU football, but I'm a bball guy by heart, kid plays baseball and coached girls, sister/daughter played basketball and some softball.

Heck, would love to see all the sports kick butt. Guess, I don't understand the Sears Cup...or whatever it is....seems like a lot of OU sports have been very successful for a long time but we don't get very close.

For whatever reason I think you've gotta have swimming, dominoes, and jacks to win that dang thing.

Those schools with 3,000 sports in their athletic departments have a distinct advantage to win things like that.

It's the Learfield Director's Cup now and it takes the top 20 results (10M & 10W) from each school. Stanford has had a lock on this thing for decades it seems but they are definitely helped by competing in so many different sports that its hard to find less than 10 not being ranked. As for OU, it is improving...

Sadly no ranked basketball teams for two weeks in a row. The womens team injuries just caught up with them. :(

The men have 8 (quality, but still) losses, which I think is keeping them out. They'll make the NCAA tourney so long as they don't have a huge meltdown, so that's the main thing (especially after three straight years missing the postseason).

Volleyball has also been fairly successful under Santiago Restrepo

I thought the men's hoops team would pop into the top 25, but not this week (although, they did receive 5 votes in the coaches poll). As with the SEC in football, the Big 10 gets the automatic love in hoops polling. I know Indiana is a top 5 team, but I'm not sure they should be ranked #1...and don't get me started on Wisconsin and Ohio State.

Sorry to derail the thread...
