Actually, the Higgs Boson particle itself(not its discovery) may spell doom for the universe but I needed a catchier title for my thread.

But even if the universe is in for an unfortunate end, there is at least one reason for consolation.

Can someone in laymen's terms tell me the difference of a stable and an unstable universe and how the Higg's mass makes a difference and why 126 whatever unit it is makes it unstable?
