OSU couldn't buy a basket the last half of the first half. Grooms contributing offensively sure is nice.

I'm not going to say we lost the game due to officiating, but Smart seemed to have the refs in his back pocket. Some of those calls down the stretch were absurd. No way M'Baye fouled out.

I disagree. Point play more than made up for his absence. Actually shows the depth Krugs has developed. Tough loss but thems the breaks.

They were saying that on the radio. If Nash or Smart drive towards the hoop it's going in or it's a foul or both, especially at home.

Kudos to Sam for his offense, but were Buddy healthy, he would have been on the court with Sam, not instead of Sam.

Actually, you're the sad one. We are quite happy. ;)

Would love to avoid y'all in the B12 and NCAA tourneys, however. Not sure we can win another one.

Good luck from here on out unless you play us.

Would have really loved to get that win, but I knew it was going to be tough without Hield.

Grooms really stepped up his game, and completely negated Hield's absence on the offensive end. But, nobody on this team plays defense like Buddy, and we did miss that. Still, OU gave the game away in the last minute of regulation. Sloppy, sloppy play.

Credit to OSU, they played hard to stay in the game, and made the plays in the end to win it, Smart is a special player.

I'm not complaining about the refs, or blaming the loss on Buddy's injury...winning on the road, especially in this conference has become almost impossible. If the Sooners take care of business the rest of the way, we'll be dancing!

If this loss keeps Travis Ford at OSU it was worth it. Kruger coached circles around him.

I think that's more due to the fact that Grooms showed flashes of being able to knock down an open jump shot. It's highly unlikely Kruger planned on giving him those kind of minutes going into the games. I think most of the "better coached" we immediately felt like were seeing with Kruger was due to Grooms. He takes care of the ball so well. We were winning games last year until other teams realized they could play off of him so far, and then he became a liability. He has shown that he can get to the basket for easy buckets this year, and he was knocking down open jump shots all day. If he can do that, we're going to be a dangerous time. Even if Hield doesn't return, I think we're legit Sweet 16 contenders for the first time since the first preseason post-Blake. Stillwater is one of the ten hardest places to pick up a win right now, and we led that thing all second half. Even despite knocking off Kansas last weekend, I didn't think we had much of a chance coming in.

Wow, Sweet 16 huh? So much of it depends on the draw we get. I guess that's a possibility.

Grooms may be the best player on the team when he's "on". And I agree, there is no way Kruger planned on him getting as many minutes as he saw yesterday, but when he was hot, coach K wasn't going to take him out. If Grooms doesn't let the last minute of that game get in his head, and he continues playing at this level, the absence of Hield will be buffered.

One guy that I wish would have stepped up a little more yesterday is M'Baye. I think that guy could take over a game, but he kind of faded away yesterday. Of course Smart had something to do with that.

I meant to say that we are Sweet 16 threats if Grooms plays the rest of the season at a similar level to what he did yesterday. He played incredible, so that's a big if. It would certainly be tough if we were an 8 or a 9 seed, but it would be much more plausible if we were the 6 or 11 seed. When factoring in that we were playing in Stillwater and how OSU has been playing lately, I think that would have been about the equivalent of beating a 3 seed.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I think this team could be a sweet 16 team (assuming Grooms plays to his ability). This team is going to be under the radar come tournament time (barring them winning the Big XII tourney, which could happen). So, I can see them knocking off a 2 or 3 seed and "shocking" the "experts".

I didn't give us much of a chance going into the game. I thought we would lose by 10-15 points. After that horrible start, I thought it might be much worse. This team fought back and shouldn't have lost the game after having the lead for 3/4 of the game. This team is resilient and once again Kruger is to thank. I think we still go 5-1 in our last 6 and coast into the NCAA tournament.
