vs. Hofstra. Haven't seen much on this year's OU team. We gonna be any good? Get any pitching?

Pretty strange that we've never won the Big 12.

But do we have any pitching?

We've won the Big 12 Tourny once (1997), but never the regular season. It is hard to believe.

Not sure about our rotation.

Our pitching will be the strength of the team behind pre-season All-America arms (that's right, plural) Dillon Overton and Jonathan Gray. Honestly, I'd likely take either one of those guys against ANYONE on Friday night in the Big 12. This team has a chance to be really, really good. Lot of newcomers in the field though. Team had a difficult time scoring runs last year so that will be something that needs to improve if we expect great things. Can't wait for this weekend. Going to be an exciting season.

Pretty strange that we've never won the Big 12.

But do we have any pitching?

The following excerpted from press release from baseball website from Dec. 26, 2012:

"NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma baseball team's junior left-handed pitcher Dillon Overton and junior right-handed pitcher Jonathan Gray have been named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger Pre-Season All-America Second Team, as selected by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

The No. 14 Sooners enter 2013 as the Big 12 Conference's top-ranked squad, according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, with aces Overton and Gray serving as the anchors of the pitching staff. Last season's weekend rotation of Gray, Overton and Jordan John, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Detroit Tigers, became the first trio in Oklahoma history to each strike out 100 batters in a single season.

Overton earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors in 2012 after ranking second in the Big 12 in both strikeouts (126) and innings pitched (122.2). He went 6-3 with a 3.15 ERA over 22 appearances, including 16 starts. The Weatherford, Okla., native owns a career record of 14-7 and a career ERA of 2.83, fanning 185 over 45 appearances and 197.0 innings pitched. He garnered First Team Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper after going 8-4 with a 2.30 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 2011.

Gray went 8-4 with a 3.16 ERA and 104 strikeouts over 18 starts and 102.2 innings pitched in his first season with the Sooners after transferring to Oklahoma from Eastern Oklahoma State. A native of Chandler, Okla., Gray's eight pitching victories tied for sixth-most in the Big 12.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other pitchers with innings from last year are Jake Fisher, Kindle Ladd & Drew Krittenbrink. New guys are Adam Choplick, a redshirt freshman. Roster shows him to be 6'8" & weighs 261. I would think he can throw some smoke. Another is Billy Waltrip, transfer from Seminole State. He went 7-2 his sophomore year with a 1.60 ERA and 95 strikeouts.

I'm more concerned with offense. Max White didn't see any action in fall Red/White series. Is he injured; if so, how seriously? Oberste at third base has some pop but after that, I just don't know.

Saw on GameTracker that OU pulled it out with an unearned run in the bottom of the 11th. Now 3-0!

Hell of a shot by Oberste for the walk-off. 4-0 works for me.
