well, read the ku players had a players only meeting....ugh. I'm a hard core Sooner fan, love basketball, but I just don't see OU pulling this one out. From a pure talent perspective OU is over-matched. Both teams have struggled lately so I think both will rebound. I can't see ku playing bad 3 games in a row..even if we play our A game it will be a surprise to me if OU wins. Saw reserved seats are sold out...I pray that isn't ku fans buying those...
dang tcu...why did ya have to win~ lol.

our losses haven't been that bad. i'd think we should have a shot here... playing KU twice a year seems so weird now

they had 13 points at half against tcu...ku shot horrible...I don't see that happening twice. We'll see. IF, big IF we can keep the TO below 10 we might have a chance. OU has shot the ball horrible for the last 2 games as well, they are due for a good game as well.

Also, i just saw the lone ou fan that is braving the weather and the domer arrogance by showing up at basketball gameday this morning. GO YOU! Thx for showing that we have bball fans here too :D

I'm staying positive.
OU matches up pretty well with KU, and even when KU was playing great, they gave them a game. If OU can play a good game (and with this team, there's no guarantee), then I think they pull it out.
It'd be a big win for the Sooners, and the bonus would be watching KU fans after a three game losing streak.
Well we are hot, but so are they. 16-14 OU

can we continue to shoot 56%? problem is ku is shooting just as well and the last few possessions they've driven to the bucket pretty easily. Going to take a very good second half to pull this out. I do think we CAN, not sure we will.

I like our haftime moral victory but am starting to think if the refs dont whistle us to death we can win the second half too

Who gives a crap about 1-seed. Big 12 should be concerned with getting as many bids as possible. Ku will embarrass the big 12 as being the first-ever 1-seed to lose to a 16-seed if they get there, at this rate, because that's what tcu would be if they made the tournament.
Anyways we won the first three-quarters of the game. Let's win the "fourth quarter" !!!

Last time i saw ou-ku at home under the previous coach the blue guys invaded lnc en masse and serenaded us with roooock chaaaalk. ****ers. At least i got to see ou baseball that weekend dominate

Lon's going to go the JUCO route for big men next year (look at the recruiting board), so I think his plan is to develop the freshmen and get the big boys wherever/however he can.

Amazing what Lon can do wherever he goes. The man knows what he's doing. I love that we have the young guys that want to do special things not seen here since Hollis and co. College ball is all about coaching now and while we won't get the one-n-done Doods we will have guys we recognize yr in and yr out for a long time. That mix could lead us to see some sweet 16s and beyond for the next few yrs. yah!!

Yeah, I'd say that we probably split between the Baylor and ISU games, but I think we might be the slight favorites against them both solely due to homecourt advantage.

I was driving back from Junction City, KS and listened to the game on the radio. KU feed. Sheez, what a bunch of whiney-assed homers. Every time something went against KU it was "what? guess he didn't see the push. he called travelling on that? sure was a lot of contact there. can't believe the ball is going to OU. waahhh waahhh waaahhh." Ad nauseum.
At the end of the game it was "well I can't believe the students are rushing the court. i mean this is OU. they do have a proud athletic tradition. i've just never seen an opponent rushing the court with so much joy and excitement."
On that note, I agree with them. Glad the students are getting excited (lord knows we've sucked a BB fandom forever), but we are OU. It ain't like we're the ones who busted them outta #1. Hell, we weren't even getting sloppy seconds. We were getting sickening thirds. Not worth rushing the court over IMO.

I didn't expect the students to rush the court given KU's 3 game losing streak, but it ended up being cool. Hopefully, this will invite the fanbase into getting rowdy. If the students don't cause trouble, storming the court/field can be pretty cool.
Funniest part was watching the female yellow coats trying to stop the court rushers in vain while the male yellow coats just watched them stream through.

For a long time, the YSG's were the only ones rushing...then a trickle, then a "rush". But givin our student section is only about 400 strong, the court didn't exactly get filled.
I feel the same about rushing the court being a bit overdone, but each student's experience is theirs and who am I to stop them if they are experiencing some joy. Besides you better dayum well know KU students would rush the field if they ever beat us on the gridiron. All 40 of them at their home games.

I'm glad they rushed the court. This was a HUGE win and definitely the best in the Kruger era. The student section has been pretty good this year and was great on Saturday. Let them have fun. It will only lead to them telling their friends and more students showing up. With a large and rowdy student section comes excitement and the "regular" season ticket holders will start showing up again.

I was driving back from Junction City, KS and listened to the game on the radio. KU feed. Sheez, what a bunch of whiney-assed homers. Every time something went against KU it was "what? guess he didn't see the push. he called travelling on that? sure was a lot of contact there. can't believe the ball is going to OU. waahhh waahhh waaahhh." Ad nauseum.
At the end of the game it was "well I can't believe the students are rushing the court. i mean this is OU. they do have a proud athletic tradition. i've just never seen an opponent rushing the court with so much joy and excitement."
The KU network was like that even back when I was a student (Years 2-5 of the LNC). You couldn't get OU games on AM radio at night, away from Norman, except on other teams' networks. So you were stuck with their incessant homering about how they basically represented truth, justice and the American way...."
I also remember the one time I went to a game up there. Even though OU won the regular season title and then the tournament, we did lose up there. OU forward (and current Portland Trailblazers' coach Terry Stotts) fouled KU golden boy Darnell Valentine rather hard on a breakaway. If it'd been Valentine fouling (as if....) Stotts like that, the KU network would have called it a good basketball move. But they acted like it was premeditated murder on the radio, and they wouldn't let it go, even after the Beakers won.
Saw on another board that Max Falkenstein made a huge deal out of what happened in Larry in '84 when OU won the Big 8 title with an overtime win. One thing they went bonkers over was how OU cut down the nets, and the KU propaganda machine acted like they'd never seen such a thing. But that was selective memory. When KU won a shocker in Norman in '83 (Big 8 tourney first-rounders were played on campus), they cut down the nets for outgoing coach Ted Owens. But when asked about it, Falkenstein allegedly denied it happened because "KU doesn't do things like that...."

I don't mind that they rushed. The little p!ssies of Jayhawkland definitely minded on their internet forums.
