With 15 children, how can she not be neglecting them? And out of 15 kids, not one single father who is willing to step up?

It's tough because it seems she was voluntarily submitting to some services, but that there wasn't anything in the entire welfare state which could deal with her particular brand of stupid. This is why I'm very much in favor of offering voluntary tubal ligation surgery or vasectomies in exchange for generous financial compensation. I don't care if that money means they go party with drugs or whether it allows them to retain a private attorney to fight for their parental rights.

One of the most frustrating things to watch are the juvenile show cause dockets, i.e., the parents' first court appearance where the state has to put on a show explaining why the children are in state custody. As part of the background work for these hearings, the caseworker will run the parents' previous case history. Unfortunately, it's not all that uncommon to have women with 10+ children as wards of the state.

Actually, yes, as long as she's not abusing or neglecting the children. Whether she's doing porn or not is irrelevant unless she's bringing her kiddos to the set. If she's a regular actress, it's likely she has a similar deal to what a lot of strippers have regarding daycare (learned a lot about that little world in a recent case, suffice to say the childcare workers have had thorough background checks, the facility is DHS licensed and all of the workers also take off their clothes for money when not caring for children).

We don't have the insight to determine what sort of support network Ms. Suleman has set up for herself, so who are we to judge?

Damn right. In most of the juvenile cases I handle, I represent the kiddos pro bono when the P.D.'s office is conflicted out.

It's very likely that if these kids are picked up, they'll all desperately want to return to mom's house, and it really does present a hell of a problem for the court system. Of course, we could just sell them off for medical experimentation.
