Less talk, more defense.

Of course, Hoover is the tool that makes sure the story gets out there.

I agree with Mike. Manziel is very talented but he comes across as pretty much of an ***.

If he did say those things, I say, try more coaching and less talking Mike. You sound like a whiny jackass.

In the end, Johnny Manziel will be serving Mike Stoops Royales with Cheese. His 6 foot stature won't have the same fortune as Brees, Tarkenton, Vick, Theisman, Flutie, Kilmer, etc. as he is an aggy.

There will come a time that the public turns on Manziel. He'll keep pulling off those off the field stunts like he has over the past few weeks and become the anti-Tebow.

There's no doubting the guys is talented, but teams will adjust to him and he will surely be humbled at some point. Everyone is at some point or another.

No one knows how tall manzeil will be in 3 years nor how much more he will develop. Mike was probably just trying to be funny. pretty much a non-story.

I would expect some defender will delight in blindsiding JM's knees, and it could cause havoc for the Lassies.

Anybody know anything about Graham Watson's views on college football, or college sports?

Every word Stoops said was true. The real shameful thing is that STOOPS said it, not Manziel's dad or Sumlin.

Johnny Manziel is acting out the second segment of his eventual 30 for 30 special.

I don't see how he put his foot in his mouth. I am glad Mike Stoops comes off as a jackass. I hope he is a jackass to our players. I hope he builds that combination of hate, fear, and adoration that makes his defensive players run through a wall for him like they did in his first stint. As far as stories like this getting out there goes, I say good. I want the nation to hate Oklahoma again. I want to be a program worth hating again.

47Straight.

Manziel's Dad has said it before. In the Houston Chronicle not long ago, he indicated Johnny "...needed to do some growing up." He full well knows his son could short circuit himself & his FB career with his off field antics, & he seems very aware & concerned about it. Indications are that Sumlin & Johnny's parents are on the same page on this.

Mike Stoops has enough to worry about in creating a defense that won't be embarrassed like it was in the CB. He doesn't need to spend time worrying about the off field or otherwise behavior of other school's players. He needs to earn his pay & stick with the subject he was hired to do. It appears his coaching (or lack thereof) acumen in the CB was abysmal.

He said those things about Manziel for the same reason he ran up and down the OSU sideline after we beat them. It's his personality. None of that has anything to do with his coaching. I love how people say things like "he should be worried about coaching instead of talking trash about other players." He was responding to an interview question about Manziel and gave his honest opinion. Heaven forbid someone break out of coach speak. He needs to do a better job with this defense. I'm sure no one knows that better than him. I'm willing to let him work his own guys into his system that buy in from the start.

Even with these unnecessary comments, neither Coach M. Stoops nor his defense, have yet to lay a lick on this guy. I've never seen a guy rush for close to 200 yards and remain virtually untouched.

This is why I despise the media. I listened to that phone interview with Mike and while he should've probably been a bit more PC about it... he didn't put it the way that article suggested at all. That article makes Mike sound like a jealous coach who is pissy about losing to A&M. Mike said, and I quote--
"In all of my years of coaching and playing, I've never seen anything quite like Johnny Manziel. He's truly an amazing player and there's just no one answer to stop him from what I can tell."
When asked about Manziel's future is when Mike slipped up and said "if they can keep him outta jail and off of twitter, he'll do just fine and everyone will forget about that (Maziel's off-the-field troubles in the past)."

Then they are the same page of not following through with what his Dad said. His dad needs to stop taking him to the club. That's enablement, a dad who can't say no. And Sumlin needs a team rule banning players from the Casino, like Stoops does.

So an Oklahoma sportswriter shouldn't write about a coach at the biggest progam at the state's flagship university, especially when that coach says something somewhat controversial? Do you perhaps own MSNBC?

That might be true... but nobody cared when he did it before. This is the attention whore society nowadays. Mike probably should take a breath before answering questions so that the morons who publish crap like this will have nothing to write about. That said, give me a break... Actually listen to what was said before you take a little snippet of the interview and run with it, media types.

I agree with the casino rule like Stoops has. It's too easy for, say... a Heisman Trophy Winner to magically get lucky and win a lot of money that say his backup probably doesn't if ya know what I mean... sort of like a quarterback getting a job where he doesn't have to work while he's clocked in.

Sat next to two A&M grads from the Corps of Cadets at the Cotton Bowl and there were four A&M grads in front of us. All six talked about how Manziel plays fast and loose with the rules and if is declared ineligible before next fall, they would not be shocked. They don't see how he can stay eligible with missing so much class. One guy from A&M told us on the way out that he is a Redshirt Freshman who will go to the NFL ASAP. Compared him to Clarett of Ohio State which is not a compliment. Take it for what it is worth but found it interesting they were not impressed with Manziel integrity or ethics.

Anyone else think that what Colin Kaepernick did to the Packers defense (and how he acted) looked strangely similar to the Cotton Bowl?

I heard the entire interview on the radio today. Listening to it, it was a complete nothing deal. Mike talked at length about how good Manziel was, then went into how many Heisman's the kid could win, tossing in a mild joke about keeping him out of jail for humor, due to the fact that Manziel has both been arrested, and created some controversy.

Its a "had to be there" situation. Mike didn't zing the kid at all, from the perspective of the whole interview.

Even after all that, Manziel has way a way higher punk-arse factor than is possible for anyone named Stoops. Mike could still stuff the boy in a trash can, if he could catch him.

I didn't think Johnny would do that well in the Neffel, then the Packers met Colin Dickwadernick of the 49ers

The redshirting of a froshie year is not just for getting an extra year of practice --- it also gives some leeway for sh!tty students to stay eligible.

To be classified as a sophomore, a player needs to have completed at least 30 hours. Junior: 60. Senior: 90. If you redshirt, you have two years to get your first 30, three years to get 60, four years to get 90. By then, you might be able to just take a ballroom dancing class that final football season!

The 30 credits per year thing sank former Meatchicken QB Tate Forcier. Ah well, at least he shared what his recruiting letters looked like.
