How do u catch a punt on the 12 and the ball gets spotted at the 13?
God knows OU is sucking it up big time this second half. But these refs have determined they would take over the game.

No hold on Sxaunders. No PI called. And no Block in the back, all in a span of 2 series that all aided A&M.

Oh well... as an Okie Lite fan would say, there is always nexst year.

Cheeeet. I'm through with it tonight. I've got the highest respect for Heupel as a QB and as a QB coach. However as an OC and play caller, not so much. We knew we had to score a lot of points tonight and kept running that ridiculous up the middle running play from the one back set and throwing it east and west. Geeez. either throw the ball every down or get Millard in the game and run the ball downhill. Just pitful, pitiful 3rd quarter play calling on offense, which put our average defense in a terrible hole. Bad game management directly from the top. Fake a punt, run a double reverse, do something that's not so conventional and stale.

A&M is thriving with Manziel. Just like Auburn with Cam Newton. It will pass. We're weak this year in some spots and mediocre in others...even Switzer said we just don't have the horses this year. This isn't one of our great years but that will eventually change as well.

The last time when? The last time we've had a legit chance to win a title? Getting boat raced by USC is supposed to be a great thing? No one cares about the past, let's talk about the present state of things. We got rid of Wilson and Venables, still can't get it done. What hasn't changed?

I still have a problem with all of this "FIRE SOMEONE" attitude. You add that to Bob losing guys to HC jobs and he's rolling over Staff that I wish we could depend on loyalty to keep. In the case of Brent Venables. It's pretty hard to keep him as DC and then give your Brother 1.5 million to work underneath him. Bob made that call and Brent took a job offer that got him a raise. That's partly why it's become tough to keep Asst Coaches and guys underneath Assts as Assistants are now getting some serious money to leave and help HCs all over the Country.

Look at the effect it's having on keeping quality guys on a staff. I think Bob will turn it around if the Monster here doesn't lose their damn mind but from what I'm seeing tonight....logic and good sense seems to be taking a back seat to pride and worrying about what some aggie or other Teams Fan has to say to folks on Monday Morning.

I would love to be able to keep a staff together and don't begrudge anyone moving on. I take issue with hiring friends and family over more qualified people. Josh did a lot for OU, but was he the best guy we could hire at OC? Not even close...that's why we are where we are. We are trending towards Nebraska, hire untested or staff that we have ties to and aren't ready for the job. If people can honestly say Josh was the best choice at OC or Kittle was the best hire than you should be happy. I think we could and should have hired more qualified people. Bob makes those choices.

I have faith in the guy to continue to do what he does best. He's not a run-first QB but the running presents opportunities to grab that 1st down or make a TD when the opportunity might otherwise not be there.

So, yes, I think he can be one of the most successful QB's in NFL history. However, I only give him 10 years in the league. After that he needs to pursuit his old dream of going to law school.

I will never ever bet against RGIII....a guy who has been a winner at everything he's ever done.

I simply disagree. Cunningham had some decent years but no rings. He also played on some pretty talented teams in Philly and Minnesota. And if running QBs were the way to go at the next level the NFL would have a lot more of them. Even Cunningham was more of a pocket passer the last 4 years of his career. You just can't take the punishment as a running QB in the NFL. And Manziel is no Cunningham or Vick. He is much smaller than either of them.

Cunningham had a good career. The NFL has been around for 75+ years. Do you want to give me another example of a running QB who "thrived" at the next level? Maybe Tarkington but he was more of a scrambler avoiding the rush while staying in the pocket as opposed to a vertical runner.

He was a decent runner but averaged under 300 yards a season(less than 20 yards a game).Any NFL team that calls even 10 designed runs for their QB is asking him to be injured. The game keep evolving and starting QBs are too valuable to risk them for an extra 20 to 30 yards a game.

Again, Manziel is very good at this level but he isn't a Vick or even a Cunningham. I guess we will just have to wait and see what he does in the NFL. I won't be suprised to see him play all 4 years at TAMU because of lack of interest in the NFL due to his lack of size and arm strength.

He was a good player yet you hold hum out as a shining example of your asserion that running QBs thrive in the NFL whereas I would counter that it supports my assertion that decent running QBs in the NFL are the exception especially over the course of more than a couple of years.

Steve Young was not a running Qb unless you call any QB who averaged 18 yards running a game a running QB. SF did not design a lot of plays that had their QB as the primary ball carrier. bill Walsh was not that stupid.

Do I sound pissed?

Apparently the NFL, football as a whole, the universe, and I agree with what a running quarterback is and you disagree with that definition.

That's cool. It shows a strong independent streak and a willingness to stand your ground on the principles you believe in.

Even though you're embarassingly wrong. Stay strong, brother. We're proud of you.

Yeah, this sums it up for me.

A QB that passes 75% of the time but can run it, is a DUAL threat. I don't really know how else to state it.

Name one NFL team that intentionally runs their QB 10+ times on designed QB runs in every game.

I've seen your list of all of the all time great running QBs in the NFL. Are there any more?

Manziel's ability at this level is impressive. But because of his size and arm strenght he will not excel at the next level. He isn't among the elite of those you hold out as examples of great running QBsin the NFL.

Dual threat QBs do well in college. Dual threat QBs do well in the NFL if they have good arm strength and stay healthy.....not because they are great runners.

Please share that definition with us. Apparently it includes any QB that has positive rushing yardage at the end of the year.

Can you name a running QB that has won the superbowl in the last 15 years?

Right. JM killed us with his legs, but he can throw a little too. Don't forget that he is 20. Doug Flutie might be someone JM could turn into.

Look, I know you think he will be a total failure, but I just disagree. I think he is talented enough to play in the NFL when his time comes in two years. I even think he will be good.

Will it **** me off if he isn't? About as much as Mark Sanchez, Mark Brunell, or Gary Hogeboom not being successful.

Mark Brunell

Another GREAT example. Hell, Mark Brunell was a rattlesnake in Jacksonville. Forgot all about him.

Spent like, 5000 years in the league, too.

Not even the greatest running quarterback of all time, Michael Vick, is fast enough to keep up with the 4-flat speed of Faninama's changing metric.

I don't think he will be a total failure but it is obvious what type of QB really thrives in the NFL. RGIII will be successful because he is a great passer and has a great arm. RGIII also had a serious injury in college while running the ball and I think you will see him running less and less in the NFL. Manziel does not have a great arm. Maybe he will shock me and be as successful as Joe Montana but then he will be successful because he shows great field presence.....not because he is a good runner.

Scrambling QBs do not eqaul running QBs..

See if you disagree with this list:

http://www.craveonline.com/sports/articles/176896-top-5-rushing-quarterbacks-of-all-time

again, successful RB's in the NFL are the rare exception......not the rule.

Running QBs are more prone to injury at all levels.

Manziel had a great year. He deserved the Heisman. Let's wait and see how the rest of his career pans out.

Yep. Never thought Landry was outstanding. He was a serviceable QB but that's it.

The biggest problem I had with Landry is that he never seemed to have that little extra "umph" in his game that would allow him to pull OU over the top. He was so emotionless on the sidelines as well....always just kind of stood there without trying to really rally his unit and get them pumped up. I understand that just isn't everyone's personality but I was always yelling at the TV for him to just do SOMETHING...ANYTHING to pull the team over the edge...but nadda.

Tonight, we got Testaverde'd.

Anyone else remember the game when we just could not get our hands on that guy? It was almost magic...black magic. Better team beaten by one guy. Not that we were the better team tonight.
Seems like I remember Vinnie throwing to Irvin that night

So assuming we get 2-3 yards on second and 10, we now are third and seven. Hmmmm, why not just put pressure on Landry and watch him scramble?
