Google news search for "Bob Stoops"

This article sucks. Don't read it unless you want to say "By gawd, this article SUCKS" (http://www.aggiesports.com/blogs/aggie_sports/article_00b55ade-4a7e-11e2-9951-001a4bcf887a.html)

Not all 10-2 records are equal

This is not one of Bob Stoops' better teams.

The Sooners lost two games at home, a first for Stoops in 14 seasons.

OU almost lost its last three games, sliding by West Virginia (50-49), Oklahoma State (51-48) and TCU (24-17). The Sooners' big win this season was over an overrated 8-4 Texas.

Yet the Sooners are 10-2, the same as the Aggies who have accomplished so much, though they also lost two home games. And even if A&M loses this game, the future is on the upswing.

But can't say that about OU.

Some day, Instagram is going to sell this photo for advertising purposes... allegedly reportedly undoubtedly maybe:
http://cdn0.sbnation.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/5461709/a-wvz6ociaaepqu.0_standard_709.0.jpg
The story behind it is here. (http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2012/12/22/3796626/bob-stoops-oklahoma-recruits-picture-what-is-going-on-here) I still think that Bob Stoops sweatshirt is kind of meh. He doesn't look thrilled to be taking a bathroom photo during a recruiting visit, heh.

Google search for "Adrian Peterson"

I think any Sooner fan that has been a fan since at least the early aughts knows how important winning is to AD. Therefore, we can laugh a bit at anyone that suggests that an injury will slow him down at all. (http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-adrian-peterson-injury-20121226,0,6294988.story)

Since the Packers have a first round bye on the line, I can see my team going one of two ways: One, take your bye week against the Vikings, or take your bye week after you earn it. It seems like they're leaning toward earning it, as they wanna stop AD from getting the record. (http://www.twincities.com/vikings/ci_22261099/green-bay-packers-adrian-petersons-great-but-they)

Curtis Martin also said that AD has more natural talent than Jim Brown (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/26/adrian-peterson-jim-brown-running-back_n_2364483.html?utm_hp_ref=sports). I don't think anyone here will argue that.

Google search for Sam Bradford

I love Sam, but it seems that others are not so patient for him to become the great pro quarterback we all know he will be. Sporting News is among the impatients. (http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2012-12-25/sam-bradford-st-louis-rams-nfl-stats-schedule-week-17-qb)

How bout this for an obscure and embarrassing stat: Sammie has been sacked 30 games in a row. (http://www.turfshowtimes.com/2012/12/20/3789460/st-louis-rams-sam-bradford-sacks)

Google search for Gerald McCoy
A fun read on GK via Tampa Bay Times. (http://www.tampabay.com/sports/football/bucs/gerald-mccoy-becomes-more-consistent-performer-for-bucs/1266221)

Also, for anyone else out here that has despised Donkey Kong Suh since not beating UT in 2009, you will enjoy this (http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8769085/bill-barnwell-make-pro-bowl):

Defensive Lineman: Gerald McCoy, Tampa Bay. Reason no. 947 why you don't judge a draft class after its first year. McCoy, taken one pick after Ndamukong Suh in the 2010 draft, was seen as a bust after tearing his biceps in each of his first two pro seasons, while Suh became a superstar. In 2012, though, things changed: While Suh was struggling to make an impact on a losing team, McCoy emerged as a sensational run defender, constantly using his athleticism to alter the routes of ballcarriers coming out of the backfield and creating plays for his teammates. Three of the eight players in football with more than 10 stuffs are Buccaneers, and they're all in that top eight because of McCoy.

Googling Trent Williams:

Trent addresses how he moved past last year's positive drug tests. (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/12/21/trent-williams-tries-to-move-past-his-positive-drug-tests/)

Googling Jermaine Gresham:

I missed this about a month ago, but it's fun so here it is (http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Notes-Adam-Jones-thanks-Zimmer-and-Lewis-Whit-wants-no-aid-Awards-pile-up/067b88b8-ca32-4641-9b2b-3f92127c8476?campaign=cin:fanshare:twitter):

Bengals left tackle Andrew Whitworth said Tuesday that he appealed his $26,000 fine for fighting with the NFL, but wants no help to pay it if he loses.

During a break in the Shop-With-A-Bengal event with St. Vincent de Paul Tuesday night at the Eastgate Toys"R"Us, Whitworth said he appreciated tight end Jermaine Gresham's recent offer of financial aid.

"Jermaine has been on me all week to give me some money. Every day he's begging for my account," Whitworth said. "I've been running away from him. I appreciate the gesture, but I feel like it's mine to live up to. I'll eat it. But it means a lot to me for a guy like him to try and help me. It means a lot."

Whitworth indicated if he wins some kind of appeal, some of that original fine check is going to be ticketed to a charity. He said he felt he had a good phone conversation with Ted Cottrel, the former long-time NFL defensive coordinator reviewing his case.

Googling Mack Brown (just for fun)

Did you know his real first name is "William?" Also, he's the highest paid blah blah blah (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-12-18/gee-takes-jets-as-1-9-million-payday-roils-ohio-students.html)

And if you're worried about OU's recruiting, it is apparently more of a concern in (Keep) Austin (Weird). (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/college_sports/big_12/article/UT-not-dominating-recruiting-lists-anymore-4126036.php)

According to Brown, the only difference in the way the Longhorns recruit today and the way they did for most of the previous decade is a minor alteration in the sales pitch.

“I'm telling them, 'We're about to be really good, and you better jump on,'” Brown said. “The other times, we were really good, and you didn't have to say much about it.”

More Texas failure fun here. (http://dallas.sbnation.com/texas-longhorns/2012/12/14/3764890/mack-brown-texas-rumors)

Much like how the Roman empire temporarily maintained it's power by replacing the depleted ranks of Roman farmers in the military with barbarians, Mack Brown tried to replace his original staff with outsiders who could fill in the gaps in the legions. But the original culture and program was still decaying and the new additions were committed to securing the best for themselves, not maintaining Mack's legacy or keeping Texas a national power in perpetuity.

I don't see the Packers trying to stop AD from getting any records. They have a bye week and potential home-field down the line at stake and winning the game is paramount. The Texans went overboard limiting AD and that allowed Ponder (argh!) to beat them. The Pack will take a balanced approach and try to contain AD and force Ponder to beat them under pressure.
