We have more gun crime than Mexico (and more guns). We are only led by countries which are practically third-world. More guns does most certainly does not lead to less gun crime.

Yes, actually, 9,369 deaths, many of which are preventable. Just look at the U.K. gun control worked great there. Same with Australia.

Yeah...no thanks! I like my 2nd Amendment and all that. You be my guest to go partake of the greatness that is the UK and Australia though.

Duh! I repeat again for you..
As I said before Mid (duma**), they do not throw out the statistics for suicide by gun!
Suicide by gun is the #2 killer of young adults!
Adjust the death figures by population, huh!

Like our soldier who is being held in jail in Mexico for declaring a registered (by border patrol) weapon, Mexico does not allow weapons!
So, guess who has most of the weapons in Mexico??
Duh! Compare apples and oranges much?

I suspect that you knew that already, anyway...and yes, National Defense is authorized in our laws. The interpretation of what that constitutes is the contention between Republican policy and Libertarian.

I just read the story about Walmart and dicks sporting Goods caving to PC pressure, linked on the mSN home page.

a short and to the point comment someone made was:
"When the bad guys and the government give up their guns I will too ! Until then mine are not for the taking"

I might be wrong but I though I read that Walmart pulled their ads but still sells the guns. I think Dick's did pull them though.

I'm not even sure I can recall a time when I've heard Stossel even speak on foreign affairs. So, I have always liked Stossel's shows and MOST of his ideas. Now that Beck got purged, Stossel's shows are the only politically oriented shows I enjoy watching on tv. OK?

As I said, I liked Beck when he was on too. I didn't/don't ALWAYS agree with him either. When we agree with someone, it doesn't mean we HAVE to agree with them on everything. I'll bet you have had similar experiences!

Wow, check out the gun murders per capita:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate

El Salvador's rate is 5 times higher than us. Have no idea what their gun laws are, but I imagine their prosecution rates aren't great. At least we fall below Mexico in actual deaths/100,000.

You're truly an idiot.

England has the highest per capita violent crime rates. Along with crimes committed with guns.

You are looking at overall numbers. Now break that very list you so eagerly shared and break it down by ever 10K, 100K, etc.

There are no questions that there is too much violence in this nation. But per capita we are a lot safer here than other place, or at least one of the safer ones.

The CNBC report said 20%, that's where I got the figure, but of course I wasn't serious. Every time there's a massacre, the ad's go out: "get your guns while you still can!!!! ,,,, before the libs outlaw them!!!" And the timing of this massacre, right before Christmas, is working out great for sales. "Not only will you want to buy one for yourself, you can get a Christmas gift for your nerdy, disturbed son to help teach him how to be responsible."

The re-election, the press conference saying "we" have to "do something". the constant challenge to the Second amendment. The enthusiastic glut of calls by the PC for a diminishing of the Second Amendment. These things are not difficult to notice as causes for an ever-growing run on guns and ammo.

i think high capacity mags is going to be the first thing to get banned. For me it is really not an issue. I only load about 8 anyway when I am shooting at any time.

I don't really need them either, I just don't like politicians telling me I don't need them! At Midway USA I can backorder them. I'd rather do that than look here and there over time hoping to find a store where they've put some out and they haven't been snapped up yet.

I actually bought a lever action rifle back on Nov 30 to help deal with my coyote problem. I had to go back to the store Monday to pick up something for it, and the place was a nightmare. Combination panic and Christmas buying. One guy was buying 50 30 round magazines, as he figured they'd be banned.

His story was like a doomsday prepper. Either he'll be ready when the mobs come after him, or he'll have these ready for barter. He said something about gold and silver will be worthless, but not his magazines.
Now, I wouldn't mind having a few of those magazine myself to hoard, but selling them would really be awkward. It would either be illegal, or gouging, neither of which I'd feel right doing.

Most of those type folks are actually going to just pass on a lot of stuff collecting dust to their heirs.

Actually in the 1994 ban, what was banned was the manufacturing of the magazines... Not selling or having them. So buy away and be prepared for the coming zombie apocalypse!

This makes perfect sense to me. Not even saving them for an apocalypse, but just as an investment. I was thinking about getting a couple of rifles at the gun show for this reason. Supply and demand says that they will increase in value.
