Even though we only ended up with 3 JUCO commits, they will all contribute next season. Here's who the Sooners got:

1. Josiah St. John - Offensive Tackle (6'6", 295 lbs) Trinity Community College (#6 JUCO player)- Josiah St. John was considered the #1 OT JUCO prospect by ESPNU/Scouts, Inc. St. John, orginally a Texas commit out of high school, will see immediate action next season. With over 15 offers, it came down to OU and KU. While the Jayhawks have had a very good class (by their standards), they couldn't land St. John.

2. Quincy Russell - Defensive Tackle (6'4", 308 lbs) Trinity Community College (#51 JUCO player) - Russell has been one of the top 5 JUCO defensive tackle recruits this year, and chose OU over a very strong push by Nebraska. It's also no coincidence that St. John (Russell's teammate at Trinity) decided to play for OU. Russell has great size for the interior, and will most assuredly play a role in any success OU has on the defensive line next season.

3. Jed Barnett - Punter (6'2", 215 lbs) Laney Community College (#1 Punter, NR in JUCO top 100) - Again, OU hits with the #1 position player in JUCO. Barnett signed a letter of intent with OU within two weeks of receiving an offer. Punters aren't typically a hot commodity from the JUCO ranks, but with Tress Way graduating, the Sooners pick up a big leg in Barnett.

I just love that 2 of them were originally going to Hook em after HS. Obviously, their time in JUCO allowed them to mature and make better decisions.

I've never heard the name St. John. Think that's wrong. Russell was definitely committed to UT but didn't qualify.

Could be I am confusing St. John with Russell. St. John was recruited by A&M out of high school, so maybe he was headed to Aggieville.

I'm not sure we should use ** recruiting as a measuring stick anymore.
