Yeah, even though I'm not in tune with that comic's political leanings, it is always a good read and funny. I can laugh at Republicans even as I vote for them :)

I also remember when they forced Doonesbury's mother to leave Oklahoma and live with them in Seattle so they could look after her better. Anytime Doonesbury tried to say something nice about Warshington state, Doonesbury's mom was like "It's not Oklahoma" :)

Go back and look at Doonesbury's of the 1970's and 1980's. Much more evenhanded and, as a result, funnier.
Trudeau has become predictably partisan and sort of boring.

Exactly. It is hard to be funny when you are so heavy handily pushing an agenda.
Of course "Mallard Fillmore" does it well! But to be fair, I read that strip and just nod my head a lot as opposed to laughing out loud.

Do y'all get Mallard Fillmore? Here in Austin they put Doonesbury next to Mallard Fillmore, but not on the comics page.

That's what they do here in Tulsa.

I don't find Mallard Fillmore funny. If you want funny conservative cartoons, look up ex-LA Times cartoonist Michael Ramirez (http://townhall.com/political-cartoons/michaelramirez/)
