Yep. He's played DT some in high school, but won't be asked to do that at OU. He's got a ton of potential, but could definitely use a red shirt year to learn from some D1 coaching.

We've only had 1 DE that I can think of that actually played at a weight of 265-270 And that is David King..The rest usually play about 15 or so lbs under weight listed.

So according to the way they have been playing them, all he needs is about 15-20 lbs.

Only a guess on my part but that could be why we don't get much
in the way of pass rush from our DE, since OT and TE on the other
teams are 255'ish to 310 with good feet, hands, etc.

That hasn't been a problem until this year. It's not the weight, it's the player.

Jonathan Jackson told me he played at about 225...Said he couldn't keep weight on once the season started..I just bring him up because of similar build.

BINGO!

Especially in the Big XII. Venebals played the "endy" package last season and has good results, but that was situation. It sure helps to have some meat on your bones if you're playing DT, but as King showed, size doesn't pigeon hold you along the line.

Yep, he looks quick, but like he needs a year at a D-1 buffet and weigh room.

Whew. At first, I read the title as "new DECOMMIT" instead of "new DE COMMIT".

#28 DE in the country by Rivals. He's started power lifting. So, hopefully that pays off. Being 6' 3" and supposedly fast, I wonder how he'd do at LB. Don't know if he's ever played there. I think he was recruited by Kish.

Apparently, he has no "set" position yet. It's entirely possible he could be an OLB. Yesterday I heard that there was no interest in moving him to DT, today that changed and all that I could get was "he doesn't have a set position". We'll see.
